Just curious. I know some you bros have home gyms. I to have one but it's in the garage because I didn't think the floor in my house would hold all the weight. Do any of you guys lift in your garage? If you do, do you have a heater in there? Where I live its cold as a well diggers ars. My main question is, does it really matter what temperature the room is that your lifting in as long as you warm up your muscles? I look like a f****in eskimo when Im lifting I got so many clothes on. Just wandering what your thought were.

thanks, muscleworm

I have a home gym that I lift in a couple months out of the year. I'm a college student, so during the semester I'll work out here at a local powerlifting gym...but over vacations I'll go home and workout there.

I put 1/2" thick horse mats (used in horse stables) on the floor to cushion the weights.

Its usually warm in my basement, so I don't have to worry about the cold. However, Sebastian Burns, one of the best benchers in the world (though now retired) benches in a home gym nicknamed I think "the Shack"...because its a shack. In the summer its in the high 90s, and in the winter there is only a little portable heater...but its still cold enough to mist your breath and keep the weights and barbells frigid. It certainly works just fine for him.

Do what you need to do to be comfortable. If that means you wear a few extra layers of clothing, so be it.

Thanks. I didn't think it hurt anything. I mean I still get good work outs. I just didn't know what others thoughts were. I have to wear gloves to handle the weights and yes the mist in the breath is there. But, like you said do whats gotta be done.

it is cold in the room I have my weights in. I start with sweater and sweat pants. After a few warm up sets I am good to go. You shouldn't have any problems as long as u warm up properly.

I wouldn't worry at all then. You'll condition yourself to handle it, no problem.

Clint Darden, a professional Strongman, trains outside in -10 degree weather. He wears a full jacket, sweat pants...even a terrorist-looking ski mask! ahahaha.

Do what Thick said...just start with enough layers on to be comfortable...and strip down as you get warmer and warmer.

Like you said...your workouts are fine, so there really isn't anything to worry about.
