The UFC 117 Thread

If this were the Middle Ages Brock would be the biggest guy on the biggest horse on the battlefield. Dude is a monster. I cant wait till i post up the next UFC thread when were all talking about him smashing the faces of JDS and Cain.

Both those guys are good, but they have NEVER fought anyone like Brock.

Carwin is still Brocks only competition.

As far as the Silva vs Sonnen fight goes, IMO Silva either got very lucky or waited too long to bring the heat. I thought for sure they were going the distance and that Sonnen would have won due to points.

Id like to point out my two favorite fights of the night in order:

1. Stefan Struve vs Christian Morecraft - HOLY SHIT! Did anyone see this one? BRUTAL.

2. JDS vs Roy Nelson - Im very impressed with Nelson despite his loss.

I was NOT impressed with the Silva/Sonnen fight at all.

If JDS cant knock out Roy Nelson what makes you guys think hes even ready for Brock, I can't knock the guy though - he does have some impressive wins under his belt.

Cain is dominating. That being said, It seems brock gets on top of every one at some point. And when that happens what can you do?

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
Clay Guida vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
Matt Hughes vs. Ricardo Almeida
Roy Nelson vs. Junior Dos Santos

I'm picking Silva over Sonnen, Alves over Fitch, Guida over Dos Anjos, Hughes over Almeida, and Dos Santos over Nelson.

This should be a good one!

Anyone that thinks silva was ever in trouble at any point during that fight needs to get their heads examined... look at their faces after the fight..
 
it's weird how people ignore how Silva won his fight using the one move he'd been trying repeatedly and obviously for 5 long rounds, claiming he got "lucky". his sub attack is obviously stronger than Sonnen's sub defense, and he LOCKED Sonned into a combination triangle-choke and armbar. in some bjj competition, refs will stop the fight the moment such a move is locked in, BEFORE a tapout...bcuz wtf r u gonna do at that point?

"luck" had little to do with a champion Brazilian getting a wrestler in a complex sub from his back...it's the oldest story of UFC, of course. that said, Sonnen had by far his most impressive performance to date therein. i'm torn by his loss, in that OF COURSE i wanted that bigoted bonyfaced caveboy to lose, yet after i was so impressed that his little tantrum with Joe Rogan was offensive.

"if i cant be number one, i don't wanna be here." "silver medal" "think about my future" bla bla bla...

Stefan Struve annoys me on visual principle alone, his fights visually all look the same, n i'm waiting for another 3 years for his ass to bulk up n become a realer contender. good fight tho, n great carrd overall.
 
Lol Jeton...Struve looks like an alien haha.....I enjoyed the fight because he was getting bombed on the whole time.

Except that Cain has demonstrated better wrestling in the UFC than anyone Brock has fought thus far. That Brock will take Cain down is therefore not a foregone conclusion. If he can't take him down early, then Cain has a chance in the later rounds due to conditioning.

Either way I predict it will be Brock's longest fight ever.

Sonnen's sub defense is crap. He was badmouthing BJJ during the buildup before the fight. Too bad because if he had a little more respect for BJJ he'd probably be champion by now.

Struve finishes fights and people find that exciting, but whenever he fights a top guy he gets destroyed and I don't think he'll make it much farther than where he is now.

Agreed. I can't stand Brock, although his fights are always entertaining. Huge fan of Cain and can't wait to see them in the cage together. I think it's a great match up.
