Thigh Experience

Just thought I share since I don't post often and some can relate.

Been running my own TRT using Symbiotic's Test E since mid July. Yes, I spent weeks here reviewing multiple sources before I purchased. And yes, this was about two weeks before #FloaterGate struck. Based on the advice of members, I re filtered everything.

Anyway, I inject Monday and Friday in my glutes, but this one particular bottle of test was giving me some pip and I thought I could use a break from that area. A few buddies of mine run TRT from a clinic and inject in their thigh. I have never injected anywhere but the glute, but I thought, if they can do it so can I. I watched a Youtube video four times and felt confident enough. I use a fresh 18g to draw and a fresh 25g to inject. I clean the rubber stopper with alcohol before I draw, and of course, the injection site. My Friday thigh injection was surprisingly smooth and easy. So easy I was like I am doing this every time. No blood and no pain. However, Saturday my thigh felt tight and I had a noticeable limp. By Sunday, I felt like a horse kicked me right in the thigh. I could barely walk, very painful and it was swollen. Not red or hot but I kept looking for an infection. Monday was no better. I planned on visiting an EMO on Tuesday if it didn't feel better. Any way, Tuesday was better so I decided to ride it out. It really took to Thursday for it to feel normal again.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What might have caused this?

You've just described pretty much every quad pin I've ever done. Even water based injections are not tolerable to me.

I've pinned a ton of locations.. late, traps, front, middle, rear delts, glutes, etc. Nothing bothers me like a quad pin.

Test E shouldn't really have any pip either, you may not react well to it... Some guys do not.

Yeah. I've been running the test since July with no issue, but this one bottle was hammering me with pip. I tossed it.
The outer quad can be a touchy area to pin, lots of nerves. If you have never pinned quads before then you are probably experiencing pip from pinning a “virgin muscle” this will happen to most any area you have never used before.
I read a lot about that over the past week lol. I think I will stick to my glute until I build up some courage to try other spots.

Quads can be tricky for sure. I learned on Quads and my first cycle was 2x week rotating quads for 16 weeks... had some issues with nerves a couple times. I have since added delts and rotate the 4 sites relatively issue free

I inject quads pretty often and I usually get sore for a day or two. It’s not unbearable but the first few times I did it, was basically how you described

I gave up on pinning quads. So many times I've attempted it, in different areas, various pinning methods and just could never come to grips with it due to the crippling pip and lumps.

I stick to delts, glutes, triceps and lats. If you are one of those that can tough it out to the point that it becomes comfortable enough and pip-free, great. I highly recommend trying to make it work.

The more areas you can pin the better, that's for sure.

My primary pin is in my quads... at first I had PIP and stifness etc... after a couple weeks I can pin 3 ml in either one at will without an issue.

Now the MOA for that adaptation? I got nothing. Just seems to be the case.

Where is this mysterious VG. I thought i had it until, i dont. Is it the Gluteus medius?

I pin quads often gotta love when you hit a surface level vein and when you pull the needle out blood squirts everywhere. I'm still trying to learn the ventrogluteal. Don't really understand where it is no matter how many people tell me or videos I watch it seems like such tense muscle there and full of nerves, but clearly I am not in the right spot. I have had dorsogluteal hurt with pip the same day. I blame it on pushing 1ml through a 1mL syringe to fast with too much pressure causing lots of subq leakage out of the muscle.

My first time pinning quads was almost the exact same experience. Two days after pinning I had PIP so bad I thought it was an infection. It did start to subside and I chalked it up to virgin muscle being pinned. Even now when I don’t pin quads for a long time I will get that same type of pain just nowhere near it was during the first pin.

Pinned my right quad first and then two weeks later pinned the left. After I felt the same type of pain on my left as I did my right 2 weeks prior I was pretty confident it was just pinning virgin muscle.

If you haven’t pinned VG yet I would highly recommend it.

I haven't tried vg, but I may. Currently rotating DG and delts. Delts were awful the first injection but now are smooth. Always looking to use more spots since I'm running my own trt program.

If you flex your ass and feel where you would do a glute shot, the VG is almost connected and you can see/feel it if you stay flexed and move your hand towards your hip. It sits right under the pant line. It’s really just a few inches from where you would do a normal glute shot but it’s technically on your hip. Pin in the middle of that muscle.

Thank you for the advice. I will give it a "shot" tomorrow.

I'll give you a little tip for hitting the VG: stick your leg out to the side and flex it. Now take the cap of your drawing needle and press the back of it onto the muscle that will pop out near the crest of your hip (before you swab the site with alcohol). It will leave a little red ring. Pin that spot.

Once you get the hang of it it's easy and VGs are great because even if you get PIP, it doesn't tend to interfere with your workout.

vg is more towards the posterior then anterior
