Had to cut my workout short today because of forearm pain.
Both of my forearms feel like their going to break in half.
The pain seems to stem from my ulna, about midway from my wrist to my elbow.I have never experienced this before. No increase in weight, no change in routine, nothing different at all. This is the second arm worout in two weeks that has gone to shit because of this. The only thing I can think of is I'm gripping to hard on shoulder day,(yesterday).
Anybody got any ideas?

forearm pain

Alot of us have experienced some type of forearm pain during a workout. Usually its a sign that your upper arms are alot stonger than the fore arms. In most cases you need to work on making them stronger (of course you can only do this after your arms stop hurting) sorry there is no short answer. there are many fine forearm exercizes you can look into. I've found that a couple of weeks of extra work can perform miracles. You need to work on that Grip!!(By the way all back exersizes really work your grip) So make sure your doing just as much back work as chest or legs or arms, etc.
keep us posted graybass

Thanks for the reply.
I probably should have mentioned that i have been lifting heavy for about 5yrs.
Your right though, I dont train my forearms as much as I should, at least not lately.

Go to Anabolic-source.net and go to the training/rehab forum. In there is a post regarding this problem and a chiropractor's response on how to cure it.

Maybe we could get thick to write a rehab/prehab tendonitus FAQ??? What do you say thick?

Shit, Thick doesn't even spend any time with real life patients. :) Actually, he'd be perfect then since he spends all his time here anyway.

He's got to be the funniest doctor ever. Most doctor's close their offices all the time so they can fuck off on the golf course. Thick tells patients that his hours are 5pm-8pm because that's the slow time on Meso. LOL

great idea for thick to write a faq. it's not like he works or anything... but seriously, i've got to hand it to thick. he's the best. as a lot of you already know, i've had this nagging forearem injury for many months now and he suggested a protocol which involves ice massage followed by heat therapy. well the improvement was noticeable after only a few days. now, 3 weeks later, i think my injury is healed. i can't believe it. been increasing the weight every workout and feeling no pain. many thanks again thickie!!! damn, if my last name wasn't johnson, the wife and i would name my first son after him... hmmm, thick johnson... gotta a nice ring to it. ;)

talked to family doc today. HE suggested I have an xray, and not workout for 4 to 6 weeks. Better chance of me going to see a t.v. evangelist and try to get HEALED that way. 4 to 6 weeks, yeah.

4-6 weeks huh. f-that. i used to have a simialr problem with my forearms. i had really bad tendinitis and even some bruising and swelling. i just got some wraps and wound them around my forearms before i lifted. you look like a fag but they really helped, after about 2 1/2 weeks i had no more pain or swelling.

According to Gittyup(a member here as well a the fellow I refered to over on ASN) the pain is caused by some form of "scarring". I quoted that because it's not exactly correct. If I understand this, the heavy lifting sort of fuses the muscle fibers together and then this causes the pain.

His suggestion was to perform some therapy that caused the tissue to break up and separate by pushing really hard at certain points of the forearm.

yeah i had that before too, its just from not working out your forearms. Even though your forearms look big from excercises making them big, they still need to be worked out. but anyways instead of reitterating what everyone has said, i'll just tell ya about the doctors one time. I went to just see what a doctor thought and he told me 4 to 6 weeks of rest too, but i actually took 4 weeks of rest and it did the trick, went back to working out the forearms and nothing since. i do notice if i dont work out my forearms sometimes that it will come back. good luck
