Thoughts on eating fruit. Do you avoid it because of sugar.

Just wanted to know where everyone stands on this issue. I for one would never give up my pineapple, raspberries, bananas, or cantaloupe. To me the health benefits greatly outweigh the sugar content. Thoughts???

People with that old school mentality are the ones that seem to demonize sugar and fructose. Im not saying you can sit there and chow away at mangos like its oatmeal but if you track your macros and limit your sugar intake, fruits can be one of the most beneficial things you can add to your diet. They are extremely high in micronutrients and many like mangos are great probiotics as well.

Fruit has a lot more than just sugar. They have a ton of micronutrients as well and some are high in fiber and satiety. I can eat pounds of fruit at a time lol. Love all berries, peaches, nectarines, cherries, apples, etc. I'm different than most though bc I don't like my fruit ripe, I like it hard as a rock and sour.

I completely agree with you guys. Fruit should not be avoided. I argue my point with a couple guys at my gym who treat fruit like the plague. They refuse to eat it strictly because of sugar. And these guys are nothing impressive physique wise.

Everything is good in moderation. I eat a lot of bananas. Mostly because theyre filling and a shake + banana combo will keep me going. Or banana in a shake if Im being fancy.

Oh, and when Im not being lazy Ill put different fruit in all my shakes.

It's usually the guys who demonize fruit for its sugar who miss the hypocrisy of downing shake after shake of waxy maize, dextrose, etc all of which are loaded with sugars.

I love fruit, its so freaking hot and humid where i live, work that some chilled fruit instead of pizza and burgers for lunch will get me through the day. Fills me up, keeps my sugar from getting low, tastes great, and full of fiber. I monitor my BG and sugar is fine as long as its balanced with the good stuff.

The sugar in fruit is naturally occurring, not processed, bleached, etc so it's the best kind of sugar to have and its much easier for our bodies to break down and use
