I have got over 11 vehicles tinted and nothing was above 150. Get it pro done. To do it right you have to take off the door panels clean the windows with razor blades make sure there is no dust.....blah blah blah. Just pay to have it done.crewboss said:

my neighbor tried to tint his own pickup last week. he took his time cleaned the windows throughly and followed the instructions. Well this week he's paying to have it installed. lol
Just by looking at a tint job you can automatically tell if they did it themselves or paid to have it done by a pro. I had 5 windows done in my Mini and it cost me $125. Since then, I have been pulled over 2 or 3 times for having illegally dark tint.

the cops were recently setting up local tinting companies in my neck of the woods to get them to put extra dark tint on for cash money without a receipt and then busting them. what pricks

i used to tint windows for a custom shop. the biggest thing when tinting is knowing how to heat shrink it. if you don't know how to do that then forget about doing it yourself. i have fixed many fuckups where people have tried to do it themselves. it's worth the money to have it tinted. a common rule of thumb on prices is measure the length of your windows for example a common 4 door takes about 15 feet without the strip on the front windshield then mutiply that by 8 and you get the price. of course there are different grades of tint. the lowest grade will last about 5 years before it starts to change colors. and the best tint usually has a 10 year or more warranty on it not to change. the strip on the front usually runs from $10-$15. also in my oppinion go with a custom shop that uses Llumar tint, i think it's the best. getdiesel

Thats funny...Cops doing sting operations against Window Tinters? I think they should put that time and effort into the SVU (Rapes, etc.) and stop wasting the taxpayers' time.

P.S. I am an intern for the DA in a major city, and it would sicken everyone to see how worthless and heartless some cops are. However, there are also a lot of great cops out there who put their lives on the line for us 24/7, but they are few and far between.

Some places you can get an exemption for having darker tint. Check with your local tint shop to see if thats available in your area. I havent done that with mine yet, but I probably will. Doesnt require much at all, and lowers the acceptable light passage by about 60%. Mine would still be illegal by about 3-5%, but its close enough.
