Trouble buying bitcoin from coinbase

So I signed up for coinbase and purchased some bitcoin. I was disappointed to see that my funds are on hold for the next 11 days. I planned on moving it from coinbase to an exodus wallet, but I have to wait for the hold. After I bought the bitcoin on coinbase I set up my exodus wallet and see that you can buy bitcoin directly through exodus. Does anybody know if Exodus is subject to the same hold period as coinbase? Is there any advantage/disadvantage to buying from either one? Thanks for your help!

I don't have experience buying through Exodus but a 2 week KYC verification process is fairly normal on many exchanges for new accounts. Coinbase is an industry leader and has been dealing with KYC regulations for years. Although, it is annoying to have your coins on hold the exchanges have to abide to the current regulations. Once you pass the verification process then you will have instant access to buy/selling and withdrawing. I think Coinbase is a better option because they are huge and well respected. Exodus is a great wallet but a smaller company that hasn't really stood the test of time when buying/selling coins to it's users.

I had the same problem with coinbase. Even more frustrating was when they placed another 3 day hold on it when I tried to send it to my
Wallet. Which was a coinbase wallet. I’m trying to plan ahead better going forward. Buying coins and transferring prior to needing to make orders.

I’d be interested to hear your experience if you buy directly through exodus.

I haven't purchased more bitcoin since my original post. After the hold period, I transferred to an exodus wallet and it went through pretty quickly. I have found exodus to be very easy to send funds. The next time I buy crypto will be through exodus directly and I will post an update of how that goes.

Wish I would have read this sooner. Got Coinbase and bought bitcoin so I could buy from stanford and bitcoin is on hold until may 10th is says.

Does it ever clear early?

Only thing I found an option to clear early was the hold placed when I tried to transfer it from coinbase to my wallet. It requires you to scan your license though. Just had to wait it out for the initial seven days.

Are you guys buying with a debit card? If you want the funds to be available instantly you need to link your debit card instead of your bank account. If you use your bank account it will be held for a period of time.

Yeah once your account is fully verified, vetted, and you have several transactions in your history etc the wait times go down.

Mine used to be 10 business days at the start and now is literally less than 30 seconds.

Use cash app, cash app very easy and fast to purchase and send bitcoin
I switched to cash app on my last order. I started this last order with Coinbase again and got put on another 10 day hold. Cash app was available the same day. I’m just going to use cash app here on out.

Make sure you compare fees when buying to make sure you are getting the best deal. Might not matter as much for smaller purchases but it adds up quickly

I've been very happy with exodus wallet. Really easy to purchase and transfer btc. I'm not sure how secure much more private it is than coinbase or cash app, but I found it easier to use.

if you’re from Canada. Just buying Bitcoin or Eth. I suggest using “Shake Pay”
Probably the easiest user friendly cheap way to buy and sell/transfer.

How do you deal with the transfer fees, I tried exodus and the fees are like 25% to the btc network or something like that

My coinbase account just closed so switched to Kraken. Have to try it yet but got it recommended here.
