TRT for women

I have a friend who has bloodwork showing she has low testosterone - 0.4/ nmol when normal range is 0.5 - 2.4.

She's 40, and her only symptom is related to her menstrual cycle. Doctors continue to tell her that her problem is stress, meanwhile she lives a fairly stress free life - good with family and friends, financially sound, RMT and yoga teacher.

She's recently asked me for my thoughts on testosterone injections for women - specifically TRT, not PED. I have over a decade of experience on the male side of things but this is uncharted waters for me. I've been able to discuss virilization and other side effects but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

What sorts of information (or better yet, resources) would you have for us on researching TRT for women? I'd be especially interested in test cyp dosage amount and frequency, and any other information that you believe is relevant.

I don't plan on advising her because I don't have that expertise but I would like to help her find information so she can make her own choice. I'd really appreciate anything you can share that would be relevant to this conversation and her ultimate decision.

Thanks everyone

My partner is 48 and had testosterone levels of 0.2/nmol 12 months ago.
She has been on test cyp injections ever since, we have played around with the doses and l have done blood testing with each dose range.
4mg a week has her around 2.0/nmol
6mg a week has her around 2.5/nmol
8mg a week has her around 3.0/nmol
10mg a week has her around 3.5/nmol
We usually just split the mg in half and do 2 sub Q injections a week. All bloods were taken around 72 hours after injection. She likes the way she feels best on 8-10mg a week, so she just stays on that. She has never had any viralization problems at these doses. Like with men, some women might respond differently to the doses than others though.
Before she started the test cyp she had no energy even with 8 hours of sleep a night, struggled to workout, always grumpy and had no libido.
Now she works out 6-7 days a week, has lost 8-9 kg and libido is firing on all cylinders, so l am living in a much happier camp at the moment.

Hope this helps.

My doc started me on Test lotion .25 ml daily. I'm back up to working out everyday and feel great!

New blood work from HRT treatment shows my bio identical pellets has my Testosterone @ 87.3ng but a free testosterone percent only at 1.39? What would be contributing to that?

Curious for this information too as my wife has all the symptoms of low testosterone and currently waiting on bloodwork. Her dr has already killed the idea so it’s either go to a clinic that treats women and pay $100+ a month or do it ourselves. Leaning towards self treating but the resources available seem very little for women’s trt. What I have been able to find seems to be a pretty strong consensus that usually 5-10mg a week is a pretty optimal dose for most women.

i was looking into this for female i know and i found a video on youtube, apparently females can get a testosterone pellet implanted in the skin

My wife used Test cream for a couple years , she liked it worked very well. Only down fall was the acne that came with it and she tried everything outside of accutane so she pulled the pin on it as we started trying for kids.

Once we finish with making baby’s I’m sure she’ll hop on it again made a major difference in all aspects of life.
