UFC 47 - Results and Commentary

Bump for BL ?

What are these guys making? Mandalay Bay was sold out plus PPV. are they making good $...........11

The exact numbers are yet to be released, but usually the lower-card guys make 5k, the mid-card guys like 30k and Tito Ortiz probably brought home 100k or so. Also, there is an amount given for showing up and an amount added for winning.

It really all depends on your name. If I remember correctly (I'll have to look it up) but Ortiz made more money losing to Couture than Couture made winning. Pretty odd stuff.

Offical UFC 46 Pay-Scale:

Randy Couture: USD$120,000 to show, USD$80,000 to win
Vitor Belfort: USD$100,000 to show, USD$30,000 to win
Frank Mir: USD$60,000 to show, USD$30,000 to win
Matt Hughes: USD$55,000 to show, USD$55,000 win.
Carlos Newton: USD$30,000 to show
B.J. Penn: USD$25,000 to show, USD$25,000 to win
Matt Serra: USD$8,000 to show, USD$8,000 to win
Hermes Franca: USD$6,000 to show, USD$6,000 to win
Wes Sims: USD$5,000 to show, USD$5,000 to win
Renato Verissimo: USD$5,000 to show, USD$5,000 to win
Josh Thompson: USD$4,000 to show, USD$4,000 to win
Lee Murray: USD$3,000 to show, USD$3,000 to win
Jorge Rivera: $USD3,000 to show, USD$3,ooo to win
Georges St-Pierre: USD$3,000 to show, USD$3,000 to win
Karo Parisyan: USD$3,000 to show, USD$3,000 to win

that's it......Its a work....he threw the fight to get more cash....I knew it!!! I friggin KNEW IT!!!!

LOL....just kidding.

In other news-

I just saw Kimo tonight at Gold's. He looks heavy and lean. His back tapers down quite a bit to his waist, seems pretty tight. He appears (to me at least) to be in 'good' shape and I would venture to say that at his age, he must be doing a lot of cardio to attain his current state of preparedness....yes I know I just said that, I do not believe that diet alone would get him in the condition that he is in right now.

If you want to compare to PRIDE, the top guys in PRIDE make about 500k per fight, and Rickson and Yoshida make about 1 million per fight. The greater difference between UFC and PRIDE is the undercard. UFC undercard makes about 5-8k, while at PRIDE the same guy would make about 50K. At PRIDE, mid-level guys make about 150k per fight.

Yeah Kimo said in an interview that this time his condtioning was going to be alot better along with his ground skills. Last time the two hooked up Ken had the advantage because Kimo had no training or ground skills. He was like tank a brawler.I think both are great athletes, I can't wait till June. What's the guys name who wants a piece of Tito now? I heard something about this guy beating his ass in a street bar fight one night. I guess he supposedly got knocked out by this guy.NOt sure if it's the same guy he said he wanted next after his fight with Chuck.

I guess he is taking a rematch with Ken Shamrock very seriously!

Definitely seems to be. They were talking about it, and mind you, not in a disrespectful way either. I believe that he takes his fights very seriously and is committed to furthering his skills as an athlete.

I dont know the guy from Adam but we chatted for a few minutes about him training with one of my wrestler friends. He was very soft-spoken and polite. I wish him the best.

Ummm, the brit, I forgot his name, he's somewhere between 180-190# and in good shape. It is the guy that tito is mentioned. He fought in the last UFC and had a decent showing (at least from my uneducated perspective).

I was told by a close source that Quinton was making 80K per fight before the grand prix. I dont know if he makes more now. I'm not sure how many fights he received 80K for. I would assume that the japs low-balled him when they brought him over for his first few fights.

The guys name is Lee Murray. Yes, he knocked out Tito in a barfight, but they were both drunk, so that doesnt really mean anything.

Murray's only claim to fame is that he KO'ed Jose "Pele" Landi-Jons. I believe he was the only person to ever do that. Of course, Pele is way over the hill now, but a win is a win.

Murray is a little bitch. All the does is going around bragging about beating up doormen and bouncers. Any good fighter could go around beating up average Joe'es. He has "wanker" written all over him.

That's it, lee murray. Its coming back to me now ...he fought the puerto rican construction worker in the last UFC who was making his 2nd UFC appearance.

You make a good point about trained fighters taking on average people off the street....it is actually rather unfair.

I don't know about Rickson or Yoshida, but i know for sure that the other guys don't take a lot more than their peers in the UFC (10%-20% more i believe). That's why Bustamante didn't join Pride when he first left the UFC, he realized that he gave up his belt and his weight class for 10%-20% only. The elite (not the champs themselves, but people in the top), take almost the same, it's the undercard usually (smaller names in the UFC take 5k-10k only as you said).

You're right about the showing and winning part, except that some fighters take a fixed cut. For example, in the Ken/Tito fight, Ken was offered 80 for showing and 80 for winning, or 120 fixed, he went with the latter.

Yup, i agree. I truly believe that Tito will destroy him. Having said that, i have to admit that KO'ing Pele is not an easy thing (the guy was Chute Box).

Fixed?, com' on, Tito wouldn't accept even if they offered him 500K, can't you tell from his persona?

Here's the story; Tito lost many weeks ago, way before the fight, he was mentaly beat, he knew all along that he's not gonna win, period. BTW, he tried to go for a couple of take downs, but he failed, maybe not too hard, coz he knew he won't be able to keep him down (heck, even Randy said Chuck was too hard to keep down). Tito is smart, instead of trying to take him down many times and failing, he traded so when he loses, he at least have guts, and if he wins, he beat Chuck in his own game.

Tito is smart, and although he lost to Chuck; he's still one of the big names in my book.
