Vacuum pump hose questions

Hi guys,

I am quite confused.

I bought a vacuum pump after losing too much gear in the syringe filter process. But I'm at a standstill because I don't know where to go from here. So I have the Vacuum pump.....but I cant for the life of me work out what laboratory hose size I need, everywhere i look, the size is different. My Vacuum pump also came with a screw like fitting rather than a nipple fitting, do i need to replace this with a nipple fitting? And if so where do I get one?

To make matters worse, there are two areas to add oil on the pump but the instructions only tell you about one of the oil inlets!

The one u bought uses oil and has a chamber dunno. I jist kee it simple with a normal vacum

with so many options on the market i just had to choose...and unfortunately i chose this stupid unit.

I found out it comes with a 7/16ths nipple which isn't a standard size when it comes to vacuum fittings. I had to order an international fitting to convert it and get it to fit a hose barb.

All is well though, I learned my lesson.

Well sell it or leave it... buy a normal vacum pump and no oil is needed. Keep it simple man hope i helped u.

@stick - The best, fail-safe filters are the Zap Caps (Nylon)- a bag of 10 costs about $120 for 10 or 12 but I've always said prefiltering is the key to make things easy ( I may do a post with images( and use a 0.8 micron or 0.45 of just the chems & hormone(s). Once you do that you know exactly how much oil to add when using the 0.22/0.2 micron filter.
Look for closeouts like expired Foxx PES 1,000cc filtertops. Why?? They are 90mm and 90mm PVDF/Nylon filter membranes are on ebay, Amazon, wherever and are maybe $1.00 each when you buy 50. If a person prefiltered just wet and toss a 0.2 micron membrane over the Foxx (or whatever brand) and you're set. Foxx makes nylon filter tops and they suck ass. Just always look for bargains-especially expired stuff and as I outlined you're taking care of everything anywway-just using a screw on filter top with 45mm threading (the standard). Zap Caps can work on 33mm-45mm. They can take a pounding.
