This guy's spotters really sucked!!!

I saw that happen to my friend one day in the gym. He benches over 500lbs and was warming up with 315....so he didnt' need a spot. But, he is one of those guys whom even when he is lifting heavy, he will not wrap his thumbs around the bar..he just rests it on the heel of his hand.

I am doing lat pulldowns and I hear a weird sound and people start yelling. I ran over there to see if he was okay...luckily he was. But I tell you what, that motherfucker wraps his thumbs around the bar even if he is doing 135. LOL.

Jesus!!! His spotters look like they are 100 pounds each with some tight ass jeans on. With that kind of weight ya better get guys who weigh at least a fraction of the weight you are handling.

OUCH! It does'nt take alot of weight at full arms lenght to cause some damage....I dropped 275lbs on my ribcage and broke one rib in 2 places about 2 years ago and yes......I use thumb around the bar all the time now. I was warming up and going up too fast with too much force and it jumped outta my grip.

To a lesser extreme earlier this week I was going to grab some water and this guy who was maybe 19 was benching 120 and was stuck with the weight on top of him. I ran over and lifted the weight up. I would estimate I have personally seen this type of episode happen around once per year while I am working out.

i always curl my thumb under the bar, i now am ALWAYS going to grip it correctly, thumb under the bar

I always false grip Bench press , and i have for yrs. When i have my daytime nightmares, thats what i imagine but it never happens. Kinda different seeing it though....damn.

Tore my pec on a 455 incline in my gym ('97) and was damn lucky my spotter yanked it off of me. (I was 3/4 way up.)

That shit however, is downright scary.

Damn, that hurts just looking at it. I always use a false grip when I bench or incline, and that is one of my biggest fears.

That guy didn't have any chance with spotters like that. I wouldn't trust those guys to spot me on my warm up sets.
