We bought a farm.. Growing my own meat

So... We bought a 3.5 acre farm. I grew up on a cattle /pork /crop farm... Couple hundred acres but have lived in a subdivision for the last 20 years.

Starting in the spring I'll be growing my own beef, lamb, and chickens for meat and eggs. Well probably also grow all my veggies during the season, and freeze them for the winter.

Gonna be nice to have a few freezers full of meat for protein and not get robbed at the grocery store.

You bought the farm, yet your meat is growing? That's a bit creepy.

Buying a farm and raising meat animals sounds healthier.

Teasing you - congrats! Big step, sounds like you're about to lose a lot of sleep, and never be able to take a vacation again.

Got similar acreage, couple bottle calves and a few goats can tax a 2 1/2 acre pen pretty quick. If you have 3 acres fenced or whatever divide it in half so you can rotate between two "mini pastures". Running cows/calves in one and sheep or goats in the other will help with parasite control. Goats/sheep don't carry the same worms as cattle and a couple weeks is usually enough to break up the parasite life cycle.

Also if you live in a moist/wet environment stay away from boer goats unless you want to spend all your cash on dewormer :(
