if done correctly, 110,120 pretty decent,

That all depends bro, if you weigh 400lbs 100's ain't shit. But if you are a buck 50 then that's a fair amount. I'd say if you can do your body weight for at least ten perfect reps then you are doing okay.

whats correctly??

ive been training 12 years so I know what im doing pretty much...but to be honest, I havent trained heavy in years cause ive always gotten nice results going moderate to light with high reps....also, never really did dumbell incline presses cause it was hard for me to really naill my upper chest like with the smith machine or even incline press....but now since im dieting, for some reason my chest is lagging more than ever and alot of people reccomend that i give this excercise a try and go heavy...now, i set the bench to the second notch up....the first is a very slight incline...maybe 20 degrees...the second is between maybe 35-40...i bring the weight down along side of my upper chest..no boune...and try and bring up above eyes....shoulder pinched and rolled back against bench...now, how do u keep ur wrists???do u have the bar resting so that you have it against the bone instead of wrists back??? and how should the elbows be???? ive heard so many different answers...

i hope you arent saying your bodyweight for each arm...seeing that you said "100's aint shit" that is what it seems like you mean to me. im 5'7" 230 and i think that if you are pushing 100s for each hand you're doing fine at my size, 120s are good - and this is with me flat benching 415 so im far from weak.

thats what i was wondering

i do about 110s for strict 8....havent done them in a long time before today...but it was confusing cause i only do 225lbs on the incline press for 8....and 110s for 8 is stronger than the bullshit 225 for 8....i was i was surprised it went that easy for me...im 5ft11 and 210lbs now...and dieting.....

Exactlty, 115 for you is good (230/2) You probably have shorter arms so that will help your lift too....

There are too many factors but a good indictor is bodyweight...

What is heavy is realitive to you AGAIN. To me 315 on incline is easy. To you it may not be. Does that make you weak. No. Dont depend on what others are doing. Do your best and increase. Actually pounds dont mean shit, unless you are an experinced power lifter.

Just out of curiosity BK, how many reps are you hitt'n @315, inclined?
It better be a lot you 300 pounder, cause Im at 5-6reps and I weigh 205lbs (5'7"). :-)

"the weight is only a means to an end, it is but a tool used" maybe it's the cyp talking but this thread is making me want to do chest today....

BK- you got some impressive stats, and I hear your a big mofo. You should post some picks.
BTW, I do 105lb DB's for a strcit 5 reps and that is respectable for me.

I've seen my workout partner who is 5'8" and a ripped 175lbs. press the 110's for 10 reps on a 40 degree incline.

Yes bro, that is a warm up weight for me, I do 315 for about 5-6 reps and add weight. But at 205 lbs., that is a good lift bro.

If this is your response to my question to you (see above), then....oh..I thouht I was cool. JK :-)
Nice work BK!
For my size, reping 315 on the incline draws some attention, but not like the gym freezes or anything. I have never been a powerlifter, just straight BBer, so moving loads of weight is out of the question for me. Not to mention Im a little paranoid I might tear a muscle. (fingers crossed--never been hurt in the gym yet and its been 12 years)

I agree it's all relavent to your size....I'm 240 and as BK said 315 on incline is'nt a big deal for me.....I use 140's on my last dumbell set of inclines. I might could go heavier but i get growth at that weight right now so no reason to injure myself.

I think too many people judge their size and strength on what they see in mags and in the gym. They compare thier own size and strength to what others do. There are so many variables to this. I have actually seen smaller bro's say in the low 200's bench more than me, and I am at 300 lbs. What I am trying to say, I dont want to see anyone get depressed thinking they should push more weight because of someones size, weight, genes. The biggest problem I see in the gym is ego.
I agree...worry with being the best pound for pound man. I think i have some impressive lifts for my size and I'm more into BB than PL but there are a few guys around that can easily bench 20 or 30lbs more than I can and they are 20lbs lighter. True strength........I believe a better question is what a person can squat or deadlift.

What metters most is doing the exercise correctly. Full range of motion with a complete stretch at the bottom. Don't worry what weight others are using. I rarely see anyone doing the exercises correctly and as a result I rarely see anyone with full, shapely and symetrical muscles. Incline press can lead to injuries if your not careful. Use only as much wight as you can handle for 6-8 correct reps and warm up with a light weight.

that exactly what Id like to do...

please explain the "correct way"??? i bring the dumbells down to lets say the sides of my pecs above my nipples a bit...then back up not too fast..not to slow...
shoulder blades pinched behind my back and chest stuck out a bit.....

I prefer walking lunges with 10lb dumbbells!, You big He-men!!!

PS, anything over the 100's on incline dumbbells is respectable,

Keeping in mind what BK said, the weight is relative. I've seen huge disgusting fat bastards incline the 150's, and no one cared!!!
Do that at under 10% BF and I'll be impressed

JMHO GB

You guys are forgetting one thing and that's that this is the wrong section for a question like this. Yet ironically enough it's has elicited an above average response of 22 (excluding mine of course) and possibly more.

Just out of interst the mean average number of responses to a question in this section, calculated to a 95% confidence interval using the t-distribution, is 7.9 to 13.5 with a standard deviation of 6.8 (all to 1 dp) using a random sample of 25.

To put this into context, the number of responses attracted by this question is approximately 1.7 standard deviations above the mean. Not exactly begging for an explanation but certainly above average. Perhaps because of its odd placing.

A judicious man looks at statistics, not to get knowledge but to save himself from having ignorance foisted on him.
