When and why to order Sensitive Estradiol vs the cheaper test

Is male estradiol generally too low for the normal test?

Are there times that the sensitive test isn't needed?

If so, how do we determine when to choose the sensitive test?

I don’t have access to sensitive test as most Europeans but if I had, I’d do it only while running tren since with tren the simple test is not accurate.

Besides that i don’t see any other reason to spend 6-10 times the amount of money and wait sometimes for 2 weeks to get the results.

Generally the sensitive test is not needed for men as their levels are high enough to register well. But if a person is low then a sensitive test can be more accurate. When i compare my sensitive tests to the standard over the years they come back much the same. The difference in numbers is insignificant to me. When using some compounds that may show up as E2 on a test then sensitive is the way to go.

Only country in Europe that I found that does sensitive E2 is Sweden (and they only take blood if you have SWE citizenship).

A bunch of labs in europe to high sensitive, you just gotta ask and look around, it just tends to be expensive as fuck

Bottom line is you can test it everywhere, afaik you just give blood and arrange to send the sample in another country. You'll have to wait way too long and pay an arm and a leg though..

Estradiol in Men: Optimal Testing Recommendations​

• Measurement of estradiol in men (and children) should be performed by a sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS)-based assay.
• Immunoassay-based estradiol tests perform best at higher concentrations of estradiol and therefore work well for those with levels in the adult-female range.

Are there factors that can affect the lab result?​

Immunoassay testing of estradiol is generally only appropriate for concentrations over around 50 pg/mL, otherwise immunoassays tend to overestimate the actual concentration. Therefore, individuals with low concentrations of estradiol should not have it measured by immunoassay. Groups with low estradiol levels include men, children, postmenopausal women, and women treated with aromatase inhibitors. Additionally, Fulvestrant, a selective estrogen receptor degrader class of drug, has been shown to cross react with estrogen immunoassays, and therefore those taking this drug should not have estrogen measured by immunoassay. It's interesting that while many (maybe in the US) say it's a must. One of the biggest blood test providers in the UK for AAS users doesn't bother with it and says it's unnecessary.

I'm going to do the expensive and the cheap one next time and see how different they are.

I've done both tests on the same blood draw twice and both tests another time a week apart where nothing changed in that week. Here are the results:

The third test was after losing a significant amount of fat which had reduced my aromatization. After that last E2 test a TRT provider was trying to get me to take anastrozole since it was well above the reference range. I ignored that advice since E2 sensitive showed my E2 is actually in range.

Very interesting thank you. I didn't realize that the different tests actually had different ranges.

Seems like the sensitive is needed for a reliable result. Crappy that it takes so long to get back as by the time you have it things may have already changed a good deal.
