When to add BA?

This may sound stupid but I've read in many places to add BA at the beginning and heat it up with the oil and BB and in other places I've read to add it after the oil is cooled down. Seems to me if it's alcohol, it would evaporate if heated. Anyone have any insight on this?

Ive heard the same. I had always added some oil, then BA and B.B together and lightly heated it while stirring. It is al acohol but not as volatile as most. I did change my practices to adding it after the powder is dissolved...just in case.

Yea I don't think it matters too much. So long as your not blasting the powder and ba alone with heat. As said, it's not very volatile and fairly thick, I doubt much will evaporate, especially when diluted into it's final solution.

I usually go:

Powder
BB
Ba
Tiny bit of carrier
Heat to dissolution
Pour into cylinder
Top off with carrier

BA seems absorb moisture from air and even form an Azeotrope with water
Azeotrope tables - Wikipedia
9% water, boiling point 99.9 C

So yes, add BA to oil and warm as to allow moisture to evaporate.
If your BA, oil is pretty dry, great
but it doesn't hurt to warm up, just in case.
