why syringe filters??

First rip, I used .22 syringe filters, and tried pushing through a 60 ml syringe. Joke was on me. Ended up having to put them on 3 ml syringes which was extremely time consuming but I could actually push the plunger. Now I use the autofil, can't remember the brand but they work so good with the hand pump. The 1000 ml complete filter unit is like $12 and the pump is around 50. I don't understand why ppl use the syringe filters, they're messy, time consuming, and just hard to use.

With a 60cc syringe, .2um filters and a caulking gun I can fill a 10ml vial in seconds with little effort. So much easier using a syringe filter for anything under 1 or 2 hundred ml rather than setting up the pump system.

Lol, you tried to do it by hand? With I thin carrier like mct, keep it very warm (not hot) and a caulking gun it goes very fast. A fast stream. Never timed it, but probably 20 to 30 seconds a 10ml vial.

Yeah I tried it by hand. Actually the day I went to do it somebody said to use a 10 ml because a 30ml was almost impossible to push. So I figured I'd have a problem with a 60 for sure. I ended up with as much on my counter and floor as I did in vials

Get your hand pumps from an auto supply. The cheap white and blue ones will break mid filter.

I do, but was wondering if I can use the metal ones. They look like they'd last forever I'm just afraid of lube from the pump getting in my unit

There's a check type valve on the filters. Vacuum only. The shit I put together would blow your mind. Lol

I remember my first couple of brews, my thumb was in such pain until someone on the boards recommended a caulk gun. LMAO! Syringe filters and caulk gun are perfect for personal/small batches as XKawn mentioned.

I only brew for myself in small batches (100 mls). I use a 3 ml syringe and filter through a .20 Whatman syringe filter. Easy peasy.

Because syringe filters filter straight into the vial not having to worry about contamination when transferring it from the cup ..

You guys buying these fish tank pumps and hoses may want to make sure your not using PES filters because they are for water based liquids and not oil

I can't even do that with warm oil and a .45 whatman lol
Well, you may have missed me saying, but I use 100% EO. Shit is so thin I made a blend of dbol and prop and pin it easily with a slin pin. Mct is very thin as well. I've use 50/50 mct/eo for some prop and didn't notice a difference in viscosity from 100% EO.

I filter using stericup .45...brew then filter syringe .22...

You must use a 18g so the exchange air can leave the vial faster...get a caulk gun and rubber bands...

if your just doing a few vials a caulk gun is not really needed ...
it can blow a filter ...
I don't use it anymore cause I don't want anything extra hanging over the vial where something can fall in ..

Place the sterile filter over the top of vial hold vial and push the syringe pressing the filter against top of vial .. nothing gets in except the oil ..

OK now for sealed vials ...
get a Damn 18g and a caulk gun like the man said :)
