I've been experimenting with workout apps that show me proper techniques and give me workout ideas.
Anyone try any good ones that they would recommend?

I use my fitness pal. Doesn't have great functionality for recording workouts, but for macro planning and counting, it's awesome: bar code scanner for your food. Weight tracking is good. Wendler log is good for workouts although it tries to tie you into its set programs. Cool graph function. Microsoft excel for cycle planning.
Pen and paper if you like to record your sets and reps. I just use memory for this, but there is something to be said for having records of all your previous sessions.
I'm not sure if any apps out there will give you what you're looking for though.
An app won't teach better technique anymore than a video or a book will unless you record yourself doing it and break it down, but that's not really necessary for most guys. It really just comes down to constant practice and grinding to get better at technique and execution. I also wouldn't rely on an app to give workouts, it's better to design that yourself or find a good program and know what you're doing before you go in the gym.
Looking forward to your sessions will do a lot for a lifters success, can't really look forward to something if you don't know what it's going to be.
Check out BodySpace it's the app for BodyBuilding . Com and has a ton of preloaded programs or you can program your own. It records sets, reps, has a rest timer, shows previous weight used and reps for exercises. I have found it pretty handy. If you're going to program your own I suggest using the computer it makes it much easier and carries over to the app.I've been experimenting with workout apps that show me proper techniques and give me workout ideas.
