WOW what a hockey game......

I only caught the last 2 or 3 minutes of overtime. Sounded like an awesome game.

wtf......this dif one of the toughest sports there is.

and i dont think it will ever go under. most reg games are sellouts are close to it.

yea i watched the game...damn good game, but did you watch the red wing flames series. one of the most physical series i have ever seen.

none of the final three are my team, but i hope tampa wins the cup. St louis has really worked hard for his team all year.

I had mixed feelings watching that game. I hate the Flyers and that pig Bobby Clark. But the TB coach, John Tortellini or WTF his name is, is an even bigger loudmouth arse-biter.

I hope the flames sweep Phillie but I wouldn't bet on it.

Grey, youre a Canadian, correct? Id so, how do you feel about the talk of CBC (?) firing Don Cherry from Hockey Night in Canada?

Im a US boy, but have seen his show a couple times when I used to pay in Canada. I think it would be a big loss for the hockey community if he was let go.

I used to like Don Cherry because he was so outspoken but his whole shtick got old a long time ago, basically he's been repeating himself for years. I wouldn't miss him if the CBC tossed him, he hasn't said anything new in a long time.

I could care less about what he has say about topics outside hockey, the guy spent his whole life in hockey and doesn't know his ass from a hole on the ground when it comes to anything that happens in the world off the ice.

I've also become increasingly uncomfortable with his support for fighting and rough play. Don't get me wrong, I like the hard-hitting North American game much more than the so-called "finesse" style they play in Europe, but there's a world of difference between clean hard hits and outright violence. There has been an increasing amount of street violence among young kids in Canadian cities, I don't think it is responsible for a popular role model like Cherry to advocate violence. My nephew is about to start midget hockey and he's a small kid, I don't want to see him run into the boards head-first by some overgrown youngster who listens to Cherry's support for goon hockey.

One thing you have to give credit to Cherry, he knows hockey. But there's plently of commentators around who know just as much as he does and are younger so they are much more in tune with modern trends.

Sounds like you;re a stickman yourself, when did you used to play? What level?

wannabe sport? what does hockey want to be like? its the fastest, most physical teamsport there is? common due, it has everything.

I'm going for TB in that series but i wanted philly to win the other night cuz my brother is in orlando for his honeymoon and if it wentto a game 7 he was going to drive to tampa to watch it. but it don't matter, I got to stick to a canadian team so I'm routing for calgary. the only canadian team you wont see me going for is montreal, hate them too much.

I think losing cherry will be a loss for sure but we only see him less then 10 min a game, anyway if he goes im sure tsn will pick him up, or even an american channel.

Grey, I agree that goon moves like we have seen numerous times the past few seasons (McSorely, Bertuzzi, etc) is uncalled for and unacceptable. I love physical games and am usually bored to death by the finesse style. Hard hitting, fighting, I love it all. But cheap shots, especially when the stick is involved, is not cool at all.

As for me, the highest level I played was American juniors as a goalie. At one point I was one of the best in New England, but a certain time came along where I lost my desire to play and my level of play went down. I dont think I was ever pro material, but if I had worked hard and maintained my desire, then I certainly think I could have had a shot at D1. Some bad choices on which teams to play on and other personal decisions kept me from that. In the end it felt more like work rather than something I loved to do.
