Anyone know of any good High intensity training routines. I have done a little research and some people swear by it to cut body fat. What's anyone's thoughts on it and is it beneficial in anyone's opinion

Its actually the only way I train now, but I have been training for almost 30yrs. Powerlifted and body building most my life. In my 30s while in military I started doing whats considered crossfit today for the most part minus Olympic lifts....

I love it and it keeps me lean. Lost a lot of size over yrs but I think more functional now instead of thinking size.

It will get you lean but it will also keep you from getting too big if thats a goal of yours... also beware of injuries..

No special workouts because anything goes... just all out then break and repeat.

If your REALLY interested look up mike mentzer. Hes got it down pretty good. I used HIT all my natural lifting days and it absolutely works. A true HIT program incorporates superset's for all compound work and workouts dont go on very long. You can expect to build thick and striated muscle this way. Weight should always be added progressively and the hardest part of HIT is ALWAYS bringing your game face cuz there arent multiple sets to pace yourself with.

HIIT and HIT are entirely different things.

He's asking about interval training, not about lifting.

They def are two entirely different things...
HIT- I weighed 220
HIIT- I weigh 175

Although you could mix them together. For example : I still stick to power exercises like deadlifts... 6 drop sets.

Then switch to Hiit mixing rows, sprints, pull ups and in my case bag work.

Ah, the distinction lies in the way that INTENSITY is defined.

Most view INTENSITY as the amount of effort in relation to VO2/max and cardiovascular endurance. Basically working so hard till respiration is highly elevated and you feel like puking. Much is the case when training with intervals.

But INTENSITY is also defined as the amount of effort in relation to 1RM or percentages. So working between 85-95% of your 1RM deadlift.

In the spectrum of physical adaptations, both can produce differing effects. The beauty of programming training is that you are only limited by your imagination.

Yeah thanks for clearing that up
If your familiar with sports....just run gassers. Not only will you build muscle, you'll get cut fast, and your endurance will go though the roof.

Finish it off with pushups to failure and sit ups to failure.

Well next time you see some wannabe marines partaking in a kill-x feel free to join in! Im sure the staff seargant in charge won't mind...:D

My favorite mix is doing something strength wise mixed with something strictly cardio...

Sprint 50yrs then move directly to farmer carries.

Kettlebell swings then directly to burpees.

Battle ropes then to shadow box...

Granted I live on a farm so I can do all this out in the open air without people seeing this old guy kill himself training.

Find the steepest hill you can find or some massive stairs. Run them as hard and fast as you can. Repeat until you puke or faint.

Farmers Carries for 100 yds., rest 90 seconds and repeat. Add weight when you can do it and catch your breathe in less than three minutes after finishing.
