Anyone eat lamb?

Lambs and sheep are always scared before slaughter. Whether they know what's coming, I don't know. I've seen a cows that absolutely knew what was going on. No question about it.

A lot of the replies so far have come from guys that grew up in the city and the closest they'll ever come to a real live lamb is on TV or in a book. If the only way to get lamb meat was to slaughter it themselves, the replies would be a little different. I can say that with some certainty because whenever I've been around someone who's never seen slaughtering/butchering before, they tend to turn a funny color the first time they see it. Hitting a 10-week-old lamb that's crying for its mother over the head with a hammer, sticking it, and then watching it bleed out isn't likely to put most in the mood for lamb chops.

I saw a pig get his nuts cut off by a drunk farmer with an exacto knife while I eas on a dozen hits of acid. It was screaming luke a baby... does that get me in a club? I saw. A person get beat to death (i assume) with a bat... what bothered me is 20 other people just watched. Messed up. He got arrested and all but the crowd's apathy was pretty appalling.

This world is turning extremely liberal these days..... We are who we are because of where we have come from. We can sure learn from our mistakes no doubt, but food will always be food. I don't know about you but I am not starving to death ever, because if I have to I will eat anything that walks to survive.

And that is the issue with alot of people in general that starve to death when you place them in the streets by them selves. They have always depended on comfort. Take that comfort away and boom they are a goner.

Life is difficult, but I'm grateful because thanks to all those miles I am a man today and never again have I sit back and expect anything to get done for me.

Absolutely.

Every year I kill an elk, sometimes two. I hunt roadless public land deep in the backcountry. After pulling the trigger, the hard work begins. Gut, quarter, and debone the meat, plus packing the animal out in four loads minimum. Every time I crack open a pack of frozen elk meat, I'm reminded of exactly where it came from and the hard work associated.

I was talking to an old country man the other day who got on the subject of hunting. He mentioned in the talk about how adamant he was about CLEANING HIS OWN kills. I was thinking was there some kind of country dementia going on here? Did he have some Ancient Chinese Secret that makes it better. Then he advised me that it was about the POINT that HE EATS WHAT HE KILLS and was also distinguishing between the SPORT HUNTER. The one that goes out for the adrenaline rush and perhaps the noble ones even having someone at least clean up after them. Most noble hunters are into tracking their game to the end to be sure and to bring home the catch. But there are the ones that just go out and "shoot at shit" and MAYBE bring something home if there is some kind of pride based merit in the PROOF of seen like deer antlers per say. What happens in between those antler sets might not be up to moral code perhaps. But these same guys could otherwise possibly just leave some things behind to rot and justify as "he's feeding mother nature will take care of it". Shame on them. Their are really not that many of these poor morale souls where I live. But I imagine they are out there. Then there is the worst kind IMHO which goes out and kills odd and rare species the shoulder mounts littering their demon walls.. These are the reason the world is in the condition its in.. And the more rare a species is the more likely they are to track down the last one and exterminate it.. For the life of me...

There must be a real margin of morality per say as to the noble hunter who may not necc want to clean a bunch of Dove, but wants to stay sharp. And as long as controlled and someone is going to feast then fine. Some animals are going to be slaughtered just period the HOW is the only difference if all still getting eaten. Whether an assembly line of momma deer not coming home to rear offspring could be a difference.

The funny part is that we all walk around thinking we are above this risk when really life would appear that we are that same game to something somewhat. What was that stat about so many people DISAPPEARING per day? Some crazy number like 2300 or am I confusing with something else?? ManWhore is that you...!!?!?

I usually go to a Lamb Brain stand in Mex about a mile from the border or so the tacos run about 10 Pesos or so and there damn good.

I love lamb but you guys are right that black one just knows that he is done for and looks like he has come to terms with it. I do wonder why they have to separate them like that though. Seems a little cruel and unnecessary.

I grew up on a working ranch, and to us slaughtering our own stuff was no big deal, but to the virgin eye... For sheep & especially goats we used a ball ping hammer between the eyes before cutting the throat. We had people who would collect the blood, and boil it with spices as a delicacy. Sit was just nasty. Everything else we just shot between the eyes.
