Is the lifting belt a must for a tiny waist?

Gents,

Ive been intrigued for quite a while now about the need for a lifting belt in order to develop a narrow waist while the back grows wider...

Providing that the BF level is low enough to not have the floaters around the waist and that kind of stuff.

Thanks for your input!

I remember ronnie coleman saying some shit about this, he would also try and keep his abs tight all the time. Some other guys say it helps them breath different. I personally dont like weight belts and I hate seeing guys wearing them every single day for every single exercise. If you want a wide back to pull ups, tighter waist is all about diet.

When your very young they put a pair of shoes on you. Most of your life your wearing shoes. The muscles and tendons in your feet don't develop. You wear a belt all the time when lifting it doesn't let the muscles in your lower back strengthen.

A lifting belt is used to allow you to lift more weight safely. A belt help you strengthen your core muscles and provides something for your abs to contract against. I doubt it will do anything for your waist size.

Thank you for your answers, regarding to the possible lack of development of the core it seems like that is exactly the goal with the whole belt thing, to prevent the abs of getting "too big or outward developed"

This is a common misconception. The core doesn't receive a lack of development bc of belt use. It's almost the opposite. What a belt does is hold your trunk volume from increasing which increases pressure in your intra-abdominal and intra-thoracic cavities. The air pockets or pressure created in these areas is what braces your spine and lends it protection. Also the belt provides a solid surface area for your ab muscles to contract against. Try squeezing your abs with and without a belt and come back and tell us which contraction was harder. I'll bet money it's with the belt.

Of course a belt properly used is a great training aid. I'd use a belt primarily on the heavy sets where stability is a must.

Of course! You don't need it for your warmups or if your doing high reps bc the weight is relatively low compared to your max. When going heavy though the added stability and increased abdominal power output is a beautiful thing. You lift more with a belt which causes you to be stronger and if you lift more with a belt you'll lift more without one as well lol

Your right...You will be able to lift more without it. To a point. That's where you have to be careful.

I have an Inzer 13mm lever lock belt and absolutely love it. It's too thick for me for dead lifts but I'm going to try some tricks to get it working. Otherwise I'll buy a separate deadlift belt.

Inzer sells 10mm ones which are not as stiff as the 13mm's and that one will work better for deads. The one I am getting is the 10mm.

If I bought a belt I would get an elitefts belt.

I would not wear a belt if you paid me $100 an hour to do it. Raw, raw, raw. I only deadlift 525, but when I pull 600 this year I won't have a belt on. I also won't be wearing one when I pull 700 either.
