Does BA Need Filtering?

Im making some bac water for my peptides as its now available locally and shipping time takes to long. Im going to do 0.9% ba and 99.1% sterile water im using sterile water from the pharmacy that is already sterile in amps so that wont need filtering. My question is that my benzyl alcohol is just in a bottle and its not been filtered will this be fine to use straight out the bottle or will it need filtering?

I know benzyl alcohol prevents the growth of bacteria but would bacteria grow in straight benzyl alcohol? :)

Thanks

The BA might have contaminants/particulate in it so yes you should filter it before mixing it with sterile water.

Thanks a complete separate question can i use normal sterile water to mix my peptides? i know that they will break down much quicker like a few days if mixed with just sterile water but what if i preload pins and freeze them? would that keep them fresh for say 15 days in normal sterile water?

I forget how long it would stay good for wih sterile water but it won't stay good for 15days I think. BA acts as a bacteriostatic agent whereas sterile water is just sterile. Once exposed to anything all bets are off

Does the Ba you have say usp on it? If so no need to filter.

Why not use bac water?

Yes it still needs filtering even if it's USP grade. Medlabsupply for instance sells USP grade BA but on their website they specifically state they buy it in bulk and re-package it in smaller quantities on their own. Always filter.

Csd is right - I sterlize the oil just below smoke point, maybe 35 to 50 deg below smoke point. Then when it cools, make the entire solution, bb BA hormone, then filter.
