How many 0.22 filters do you guys go through to filter like said 100ml? cuz i lost alot of oil when I was using the caulking gun and every time i changed the filters it spray oil out, I lost pretty much about 50ml of oil today, was not a happy camper.

Anyone got a good suggestion for filtering?

A syringe filter should be able to filter about 100ml roughly. Bottle too filters can vary but the ones I use, Whatman Zapcap-CR, can filter 500ml of oil. Be careful though as these aren't sterile filters and need an extra step of oressure cooking for sterilization.

Then wtf did I do wrong? I went through like 6 filters and 100ml of brew and honestly only got 4.5 bottles. I was using a caulking gun to apply the pressure and MCT as carrier

Why did you keep changing filters. What was your reasoning for changing them out so frequently? How did you lose 50ml of oil?

I used a caulk gun with MCT and .2um... took probably 3 hours to get 80ml filtered. The ones I have only hold about 1ml so I don't bother purging them.

Why did you change filters so much? I did 80ml and 90ml brew with one filter a pop.

I kept changing filters because i would press down on the gun and like nothing will come through so I think it was clogged.

and i lost alot of liquid because the caulkgun i was using started to bend when i was pressing on it. so when i try to relieve the pressure to reset the srygrine, the Filter will burst off and i would spray the oil everywhere.

If you HAVE to change filters in the future. Remove from vial and pull a little air through the filter to get some negative pressure in the syringe before removing filter.

You're pressing way too hard. I kept a drip every 1-1.5 secs or less.

I'd put it hanging from something and put some pressure on it and let it equalize for a few minutes and reapply pressure.

Lesson learned though.

In the future you can get a vacuum flask and hand pump.

Yea I am ordering a hand pump and media bottle plus the filter unit as we speak. I still need to brew about 200ml of gear so not gonna waste time using syringe filters.

If you're doing it by hand, pushing a 60Ml syringe through a filter is fucking ridiculously hard. Use a 10Ml syringe instead, and just reload it each vial. The difference is night and day, soooooooooo much easier with a smaller plunger behind the filter.

I went from using 10 ml syringes to using 3 ml syringes to filter through a Whatman .20. Warm the oil up and it is soooo much easier to push.
