Filtration

just finished my first brew of test e. All went well except it took 20-30 minutes to fill each bottle even when using a chalk gun. Is there a better way?

The only way to go! Pump up the vacuum and walk away. Come back periodically and give it a few more pumps until done. Depending on what you're filtering, an hour or so will do a couple hundred ml.

It's definitely efficient but if you're going for some serious volume or just want the bells and whistles you can always buy the disk filters or whatever and a peristaltic pump. Couple hundred ml's in minutes or so lol

Vacuum? I'm sorry to ask I don't understand.

With a such fine filtration you need a force to push or pull the filtering media through the filter otherwise it'll just sit atop the filter. With syringe filters you press the plunger or use the caulking gun to apply pressure to the media and force it through the filter. With a bottle top filter setup there's no syringe and so you use a vacuum pump to create vacuum which pulls the media being filtered through the filter membrane.

Sure can. Just google bottle top filter and a thousand places come up. Hand vacuum pump you can get a lot of places.

You can go threw med lab supply
They have you one stop
Get a break bleeder 35$
And a couple bottle top filters.
Don't order the complete unit.
Buy just the filter.
The plastic breaks to easy
And you will loose some gear.

+1 for this. I have had a couple of the plastic media bottles that came in the kit crack under 8-10 lbs of vacuum which left me scrambling to stop my gear from running out all over the table. Get the bottle top filter and some glass media bottles. You will be glad you did if you are brewing any volume at all.

Same thing happened to me once. I knew better but was in a hurry and didn't want to take time to sterilize a glass bottle. Was in next room when I heard a snap. I got lucking, with the vacuum on it I didn't loose any gear. But that could have resulted in 250ml of good test lost.

View media item 451Hello friends. I have a tremendous doubt about the filtration. I was doing manually with syringe filters. I am totally ignorant in this matter and wanted to help you.
This métodoque you are talking about is with pistol in vacuum? like this?
If I would have to attach the syringe to the gun, and the syringe filter to the syringe, right? which pressure you put? how long it takes?

here in Brazil i found this one: http://www.lojadomecanico.com.br/produto/20556/3/148/121/bomba-de-vacuo-manual-planatc-bvm6000
