Bodybuilding Contest Prep Log

I guess I can comment than :D I thought you was in it to win it, not to just get on stage and look small for your height. let me know how you do and good luck.
Please post a picture of you being in shape and bigger? Or proof of a better lift. Or are you just a chubby old man on a keyboard

nice lift. I think at your height you need more time under weight. IMHO
Lol no offense taken just kinda pointless to say. Time under weight isn't something I can buy or wake up tomorrow with its something everybody could use more of that's why we all go every day
it is a nice way of saying your not ready for what you want to do. live and learn.

you got me. let me know how you place.
Hey JP congrats on the 600+ deadlift. Very impressive
HF isn't being an ass. He's just being frank. You gotta appreciate it. It's nice when you get people like that around you. When everybody says you look great all the time and some blatant honest motherfucker says at 5'11" you need more mass he really is pointing you toward success. These are the people that will tell you how it is. Sorta like tough love

Wish you success in your venture. I'll be watching. Just don't take advice so personal.

If it had been tangible or usable advice or constructive advice I'm all ears and appreciate it. When someone says something general like "you need more time" or "you aren't ready" it was just pointless to me. I'm not gonna wake up tomorrow with more mass in the middle of a prep or with an added 5 years experience with the iron, so really what was the advice? Of course I need more mass and experience, who doesn't? I don't need people just telling me I look great I love constructive criticism. A member earlier in the thread didn't like my
Posing and offered advice to improve it. Simply saying "you're not ready" isn't constructive and isn't advice at all. I have 14 weeks to be ready and then we'll see how I look

Of course you'll look great then!

If your asking me? I'll tell you you have a high chest and a long torso especially for somebody who's under the 6' mark. Which means you'll have to carry more mass to look huge at your height. The cross section on your chest isn't as large as others at your height. It's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a physique thing. We're all different. I'll bet you kill this competition in your weight class then go on an all out bulk. Maybe 1.5 years of good bulking and trim to a solid 225 or 230. That will fill you out more. You know the taller you get this is the issue we run in to. Unless your a freak like arnold and have all the right genetic placements to look full at 235.

I think smartphones can also make a person look taller & thinner depending on distance , angle & lighting . I think this may be the case here . Keep taking photos and get someone to help you with lighting ; lighting can make or break a pic ....

I think a little more cutting/prep and your gtg .

I agree 100% on the chest assessment it's always been behind my back and legs. It has come up but I agree completely I need to bring up my chest thickness especially my upper chest. I also think the angle and the fact I recorded it on made me look longer torso wise. I'll have someone actually take my next round of pictures instead of just mounting my phone. Appreciate all the feedback and advice guys

take pictures outside in the sun too, for a truthful look. watch the new BB movie Generation Iron, there is a spot were a guy tells Victor Martenez he isn't even close to being ready for the Olympia. if your not ready it means your not ready and you do not do the show, but you think you are ready, so you know best. you need more time under weight period! you can cry all day long I didn't give you any advice, but I gave you the most honest advice you have heard. when you cut up for shows you are slowing the muscle building time. every time you do a show you have lost time under weight. you are not gaining muscle you are losing muscle. stop worrying about how bad I hurt your feelings and get some thicker skin. I give the brutal honest truth. the truth hurts especially if you can't handle the truth. I see that you can not handle the truth.

Lol trust me you did not hurt my feelings. Maybe after I finish last at this show I'll make sure not to compete again til I'm ready for the Olympia thanks for the advice

What I didn't get, is what's so hard to understand that other people's goals maybe different than what you think they should be. Maybe JP's goals are never to compete at 230-240. Will he be at a disadvantage at his heights competing with guys shorter than him? Most likely, but that depends a lot of the judges. A good judge will judge you on your symmetry. Zane beat Arnold a few times. And Zane only had 17" arms but his symmetry was poetic type shit. Not everyone wants to be a mass monster at 250-270. I like being able to run a 40 in the upper 5 second range at 220 6'2

The mass monster thing I don't get. Am I a mass monster at 260-270. Um no?
I haven't earned anything like that yet. And of course prodigal your assuming big means slow. Which would be a huge disservice to my natural athletic ability. If you run high 5's in a 40 I could match that or better that I would wager. I have a large Samoan friend that at 300+ that can do it just as fast as me, in our 30's. We're not pups any more.

Now of course I'm assuming bigjp wants to be the best he can be? If that ISNT the case then I have nothing meaningful to contribute here. I'm interested in motivated motherfuckers. Either that point went right over your heads or you two are both butt hurt about what was said. It's all for the better. Now let's get it

Lol I'm not but hurt. Conditioning wins shows so to be my best I need to be as lean as possible. Do I need more size of course but now is not the time to worry about that

I don't mean to come across as an asshole. It gets that way some times. What I like to say is. Let's see what you can do JP :)

@BigJP
I'm interested in the actual prep itself. As that will be pertinent information for my goals.

Will you log that process? Everything included?

Then let's see you run a 40 in the upper 5 second range. That's close to NFL linebacker status. If you want to wager, let's wager then. my best time was a 5.2 @ 209# have video of it. From your log, it doesn't seem you do a lot of GPP work. I'm just trying to help/encourage you to be the best you could...

Not butt hurt at all. As my goals are entirely different then yours.

With work boots or without? I wanna make it fair

I did mine it Chucks. Whatever is easier for you
I wear work boots almost everywhere. The most athletic shit I've ever done was wearing combat boots and wearing a ruck and carrying a rifle. Ideal no. But assuming a 260+ dude can't run fast in a straight line would be insane. Did I tell you about my Samoan friendo_O
