~Ogh"s Old Geezer Tren Run....

Lol don't put yourself down, brother. Your physique is great for someone your height.
Thanks Mindless, that means alot bro. I will keep working on it though. Until then ima keep busting my ass everyday.

Up until about 4 yrs ago 225lbs was about my max bench too Skull . You"ll get stronger . Powerlift more ...
I seen where your repping 225 an I was like, shit I cant wait to be doing that some day but I will have to lol. I would like to be stronger but id rather be bigger. Id much rather look like I can bench 1000lbs then actually be able to do it lol

Ok -- I got PM"d and asked how I got 205x10x10 on an incline bench when they cant get 205x10x10 on a flat bench .
My incline isnt that steep (only 7" high) and Im able to arch my back bigtime by pinning my boots against a 2x4 I got screwed down . The wife said my back looks arched a good 6-8 inches or more . So my low incline is not that inclined once I arch thru it . lol

Plus Ive done alot of 10x10"s & 8x8"s on & off thru the years . The Vince Gironda 8x8 specifically which I like better than a 10x10. Since Ive decided to go after the 165lb Alaska PL record I might go from this 10x10 to a 5x5 for a month then a pure powerlifting routine .

I believe theres a direct connection between weights used and muscle gained . Look at Brutus , what happened to him when he started lifting heavier ? He got bigger . JB really did too . And you look up to Odie , but Odie lifts heavy . Big weights .

Push yourself Skull , if you can clean 225 in a bench have you been trying 230 lately ? Or 240 ? Thats how you get bigger & stronger , plus lots of food and a lil gear .

Ya you are right man. They do lift some heavy ass fuckin shit that's for sure. That 225 I did was the one time I actually had a spotter. He didnt touch tje bar btw which was good. It makes me feel uneasy trying to max heavy shit without a spotter. Ive had to do the ol role the bar down my body while feeling like its squishing out my insides an squirm out from underneath of a failed attempt more than id like to mention haha. Wish a had a partner to workout with but nobody i know wants to ever put in any effort to better themselves so im left to do it alone. That's fine though an I don't let it detour me. I just keep pressing forward;)

I rarely ever have a spotter. Doesn't stop me from working maxes. Just be realistic with your attempts and just dump the bar to the side on bench of you get pinned.

I'm sure you have more than enough experience under your belt for you to get to where you need to be but I know when I'm trying to get stronger I plateau out really fast on 5x5. But when I starting mixing in 3x3/8x8/6x6 I make good strength gains. I have a very unconventional method of getting strong but it works for me. I always work to a 1-3 max rep then do a routine such as 5x5 or 3x3 or anything for that matter. That's my go to for strength gain.

Same here I"ll mix 5x5 & 3x3 w/ singles and doubles . Thinking about several great routines .

Dropping large amounts of weight while maintaining strength (or most of it) is my objective here , not easy. I always lose strength when I drop weight .

Ya that's crazy strong for his size. Shit I wish I could put up numbers like that but my best has only been 2 plates:rolleyes: O well, ill just stick to crazy volume to get to where I wanna be;) Im not to worried about crazy strength anyways but I do however want crazy size lol:D

Trust me brother keep working out with like 185 and 225 becomes a breeze.. Just a plateau. We all get stuck at numbers. Then you break them and sore right past it.

That's actually what I've been doing. Multiple sets at 185 an when I cant do them anymore I drop to 165 an repeat. Ill keep doing drop sets till I almost end up with just the bar an do as many reps to failure as I can for multiple sets. Fuckin pump is insane after putting that much volume an weight through your body lol.

Move up like 5 lbs each week on your working sets brother it becomes a breeze there was a day I couldn't bench 225 and with work I max at somewhere round 365 now.. All in time brother all in time

Holy shit, now that is impressive. Fuckin bench has always been my weak point. An of course everyone I see just has to ask that mother fuckin question, how much are you benching bro? I actually get mad on the inside an tell them I don't even try to max. I just do a shit load of working sets real light lol. Its sad I know smh:( I guess the way I look makes people believe I can bench a shit load which is farrrrrrr from the truth:rolleyes:

When ppl ask me I tell them 140.. Like wtf does it matter what I bench mother fucker? We both know it's more then you. Next time I'd say 2 jugs of water if I was you.

That's a damn good idea Doc. Thanks man an ill start using this method immediately;) Ill just dump that shit in the floor if I get pinned:D

@Skull Another little trick is bench in the squat rack and set the side bars just perfectly-- where the bar still hits your chest but if you inhale and maneuver your body the slightest, you can set the bar down, then roll it away towards your legs to get out from under it. Put a small 5 or 10lb weight under the bench to help everything line up correctly if needed.

I only do this on empty days at the gym like a Sunday or Friday evening etc, which is when I like to hit chest anyway.

I used to avoid bench because I was so embarrassed, or Id only hit it when the gym was empty. I would max on 135. Started adding a little weight and in no time my max was 225. Now 225 is a working set and Im stuck at 275 forever. I plan to change it with a powerlifting protocol. When youre stuck you gotta change it up like OGH said. And fyi, the weight will never be enough, youll always want to lift more.

I do this too. I call it FOD lifting. Fear of death. If I cant get it off thats it!

When I 1st started lifting all I could do was 95. I would go to the gym early as hell so no one could see me when I worked on it...

@Oregongearhead: good luck on that DL record bro. I think soon this is going to be an AAS/PL forum. :)
