Yep... Kill Em All was good, of course, but from Ride the Lightning on, they were light years ahead of the game in their ability to write and record heavy art and emotion. Light years ahead. You can listen to For Whom the Bell Tolls/Fade to Black (1985) and it sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. I've had the pleasure of exploring those songs on hallucinogens, and the universe was deep and wonderful. I still rotate some of the more "off the radar" Sabbath too... Into the void, Electric Funeral type shit. Had the pleasure of seeing Pantera Open for Sabbath, as well as Sabbath open for Ozzy, that's a double dip full meal deal concert their.Hopefully their is some actual creativity in those bands. Where craftsmanship meets musicianship. I've made it a point to stay away from stuff like that cuz everytime I hear it or see it it just seems...horrible.
You know hetfield wrote all his songs? Every fucking one them. You couldn't find a better songwriter. Powerful and capable of delivering a msg thru lyrics. An art many do not have
