Metal detectors

Alright troops. Does anyone have any experience taking needles through a metal detector is there enough metal to set it off. Also in the cap of a vial could this be enough to trigger it.

Where are you going through a metsl detector? Do you mean like on a flight, or walking into a courthouse? If its for a flight, just have your needles, alcohol swabs, band aids, etc in a pouch and either take it carry-on or in your checked luggage.

Heliport mate all bags are searched and everyone is lightly padded down might just need to experiment and do a few test runs with an old vial top and a pin in my pocket nothing incriminating see what sets them off. Was just hoping someone had experience of going through a detector with anything.

You have baggage with you? Or just whats in your pockets ?
If you have baggage with you , checked in or hand/cabin baggage I am sure you have few cosmetics there. Put your needles and vials in the cosmetic bags. Its very small quantity of metal, even less than the razor blade so it wont be a problem. And remember, when traveling, always relabel your vials and put your orals in a vitamin bottle. ALWAYS! ;)

Best Regards

I have went through many metal detectors and have never had a problem. Im not sure if the gauge and length would make a difference though. I have always just taken slim pins to safe, and never once had an issue.

Problem is all baggage is checked that goes through the scanner even your cosmetic or toiletries bag. Syringes are a big no so anything that is taken would need to be on person. There is no carry on luggage on helicopters. The padding down in security is just a light padding down of the legs and torso etc leaving plenty opportunity to get through as long as the metal detector doesn't go off.

Can you mail it to yourself. How long are you going to be gone for. I was going to be gone a week before and I took double the shoots before I left. They were long esters so it was like front loading in the middle of cycle

Just make few test run. If it's always the same metal detector it should be ok but remember that they could change the sensitivity.

Cheers for the replys guys. Mailing isn't possible no mail to or from and can be away for anything from 1 week upto 3 weeks so minimum I can think would be possible to take would be 2 syringes with 2 pins and a vial pin just before I leave.

I think some experimenting is needed with just the pin of a needle and the metal off a vial then maybe a few pins to see what it takes if they set it off at all.

The metal in the pin will not set it off. Bottle top would. Ever think about pre loading ur syringes and take it that way in ur crotch if it's just a light pat down. No need for the vial then
