How many HARDCORE METAL fans at Meso?

I think metallica by now is considered a classic band? That's kinda hard to say but they have been at it 30+ years. I think for most especially people in the generation before me ACDC, Metallica and Sabbath were the epitome of heavy. And really? They still are. I think yall forget back in the 90's metallica was deemed too heavy for radio play. Remember that? Wasn't that long ago. They opened the door in so many ways to everything we love that's present. Any band who is in the rock/metal genre cannot legitimately claim to not have metallica influence in their brand of music. I believe that is impossible

The curse of getting old - all of a sudden your favorite music is "classic" - almost insulting.

I played a Killing Joke song (Follow the Leader) for a fresh-faced colleague yesterday, he was like "cool, they sound like band such and such" and I said "no, it's the other way around, KJ is the original"

Hard to stay current in music, not much to like. I force myself to listen to my teenage kid's music, can't lose touch entirely.

Can't say I know many, other than the major names, of these bands - but I'll take any of them over the whining metrosexual fag bands that they have on a recorded loop at my Gold's gym.

Christ, it is testosterone-depleting to have to listen to those guys. They probably weigh 130lbs wet, and are compensating for lack of male qualities by not shaving - yes, the misery is shown on screens too. Ugh.

Closest I know, and like, to OP's genre would be bands like Aerosmith, AC/DC, Metallica and so on, all probably total wuss bands by your standards. :)

Metallica and Sabbath are the godfathers as far as I'm concerned. I like all kinds of music... To be honest, I think 95% of heavy metal sucks ass, but the 5% I DO like, is the shit. It's that way with most music, 95% bs, with some gems sprinkled in across alomost every genre. I can't fuck with ANY R&B, or mainstream, modern country music.
There's some killer old school country and a very tiny amount of new guys that can still do it right.

Metallica does a cover of Killing Joke's "The Wait" on the Garage Days album. (perhaps one of the weaker songs on the album;) stacked up against songs like "The Small Hours" anyway )

Modern day country pisses me off. You got hip hop/country/pop/fags like Florida/Georgia Line that would make Travis Tritt want to punch a baby. Even old timers like Tim McGraw and his weak ass career as of late. I've completely alienated myself from any modern country. With the exception of a small 5 percent as you say, jamie johnson is one that sticks out. Give me a long damn 2nd before I can think of more

My kids go to school with the Tritt kids - btw, Travis has a really hot wife.... :)

One of my neighbors is a rodder for some mega country singer.

Not that I'm into country - but I definitely live in C&W country.

I'm deep in the heart of it too... Only person in the family without fancy cowboy hats and boots (got some Ariat "work" boots)... Uncles rode in the rodeo. Don't get me wrong, I live in a big city, but I'm from the outskirts. I'm a country boy, from a country family, but I'm a different bird all around. More "broad minded".

This is Aaron Lewis from Staind. Decent little country song.
