What do you guys do when...

you can't make it to the gym or don't have access to weights? I've been traveling for job recently and this contract will last about 7 months. Sometimes 2-3 times per week I'm gone. Do you guys have suggestions for body weight routines I can supplement with?

If it was me I'd call local gyms in the places I'd be traveling to and see about getting a day or week pass. Even if it's not advertised a lot of them will do that type of thing.

Are you getting put up in a hotel? Even if it's not one with a fitness room, a lot of the major brands will have a deal worked out with the local gyms for day passes for the guests.

IIRC, it's Holiday Inn that will even supply you with a gym pass if you tell them their own facility does not meet your requirements.

I travel 2-3 days per week but have never been able to find motivation for bodyweight training. Treadmill at the hotel, take a rest day, but more importantly, theres always a gym somewhere. I'd rather spend my per diem on a taxi and daypass than a swanky dinner somewhere. have gotten to test some fantastic gyms out there.

That's a good idea man. I think they give me $25 a day but I'm almost positive they specified for food which I hardly ever use cause I packed mine. I'll have to check that

Yea but these people put me in the cheapest places they can find. Lol. Best western that I was in last week had I think 1 treadmill 1 stair master and a solo flex or some shit. I never thought about asking them to comp (so to speak) at a gym.

Are u someplace where there's no gym? I travel for work also so I have been to almost every gym within a few hours from me

Yea man...sometimes they are pretty far tho so I was just looking for some options. I've do QC for construction projects when I travel so sometimes I'm leaving home town driving for 5 hrs, then doing a 6hr inspection, so I'm basically whining about having To drive another 1.5hrs each way to the gym. lol

I'd complain too lol. I work construction also. Drive all the time and I hate driving lol

Why not ask your employer if they will allow you to use your per-diem for a day pass at a gym?

I pretty much do whatever I can as much as I can

I work offshore a lot so I'm resorting to a chit ton of push-ups and my ab roller. It's surprising actually. I'll be offshore sometimes for 30+ days and actually gain strength doing bodyweight stuff. Diet? Man I almost forget about it. Pretty much kill whatever sweets are available lol. Food is generally good most of the time, lots of calories though

How about making water bags? Double up some garbage bags filled with water in a clothes net bag.. You make handles or use a heavy broom stick as the bar. In prison guys get pretty big lifting waterbags all the time.

I worked in remote areas for years and the first year i had no gym. Me and mate i met there ended up using resistance bands with handles, which are great for pumps, circuit like training with them. Push ups, chin ups, squats with each other on our shoulders. Then we got hold of 2 20litre water containers, man we did so much with them.

These bad boys, fill them rite up or half either way you get a good pump, just have a rag and grey sticky tap handy to make a lid

I travel a lot too. Usually I just go to a gym, tell them whats going on, and ask if I can workout for the day. Ive only been charged twice (both were golds). Worst they can do us say no, but you gotta remember these people at the front desk or most managers really dont care too much.

Well if you are done with bulking and want some body weight exercises you can do what I do during the summer on tours (not military related) get a deck of cards and make spades= push ups, clubs= Sit ups or ab roller, diamonds= burpees, hearts= lunges. Face cards are worth 10 and every other cars is its face value for reps. Do this workout and time it each time you do it work on improving your time without cheating any reps, if you ain't sweating and losing weight from that you ain't working hard enough at it, I was in prime shape and by the time I was done the game of fitness cards I needed a nap.
