I'm currently training 5 times a week usually do my sessions in the evening I'm 5ft 10 and 13st 10oz I'd say around 15% body fat...my question is: will going for a 10/20 min run after lifting strip my muscle or will it strip jest fat? Iv read that it's best to split them up and not to do both in 1 session but I'm out the door for 5 am for work and ain't home till 5-6pm so I try to get it all done in 1 "lift for 45 min to 1hr then run 10/20min" Been doing it for the last week but can't really say if iv lost fat or muscle as iv dropped 2lb...is it best to run befor or after I lift? Or better to split it up?

It's best to separate them by a few hours if possible. Next best would be doing lifting first then cardio. Finally, cardio before lifting would be last choice for me. It will also depend on your goals though. Cardio won't burn just fat nor will it burn muscle to an appreciable degree.

I don't want to loose no muscle jest shred the bit of fat I have got that's why iv been keeping my run "cardio" short....looks like il be up at 4am from now on get a half hour run/cardio in befor work haha

If you're losing muscle from cardio it's either bc you're doing an insane amount of it or your diet needs tweaking.

I can't really tell if iv lost muscle or fat over the last week but my diet isn't 100% I do have a pre workout shake "monster protien" befor a train then a post work out shake of "all in 1" befor my short run.....Alarm is set for 5 am will split it up I think as it seems the better option

Sprints before hand always seemed to prime my body and lungs for explosiveness. Always shredded me up too.... but at that time I was also doing AM cardio and really solid nutrition.

Here is an oldtimer reply...lifting is anaerobic...you use stored sugar as fuel...aerobic stuff uses fat as fuel after sugar reserves are depleted...weights first...aerobics after...best way to build and cut at the same time...always works........koolio

Most of the time lifting and cardio are a mix of anaerobic and aerobic metabolic processes. To think they are solely one of the other is just incorrect.

Post weight training is best for me.

I lost a lot and I mean a lot of weight/fat this way ^^^^^ Also gained muscle.

Then I started AAS and gained more muscle and lost more fat, but gained weight. Lol

Same here. I did a warm-up pre workout, then weights, then hiit and it was the first time I really saw the fat just melt off. There may or may not but definitely was a few other "supplements" helping... I would like to do fasted cardio more often when I went to drop weight but it just doesn't fit my schedule.

I been doing HIIT after 2 hour weight lifting sessions 3-5 times a week for about a month or so, working for me, ive lost fat and ive been progressively getting stronger so i would say after. Also, cardio sucks the life out of you, so doing it before just seems like it would take away from the real workout.

Whatever you can stick with and feels best for you. During a cut I typically do cardio first as when I'm in a caloric deficit, if I lift weights first I'm just gonna go home once I'm done as I'm bad about talking myself out of it and saying i'll just come back later to do cardio and arely do. I can still lift after doing 15 minutes of hiit or 30 minutes of low intensity cardio tho and it never seems to have too much of an effect on me ( THo the hiit does seem more taxing to me, but I was a long distance runner prior to getting involved in bodybuilding so sprints and things of such nature aren't really my forte). While i'm bulking tho I always save it for after as I typically do longer bouts of cardio while bulking as it allows me to eat more and I actually work on cardiovascular health ( something too many of us neglect) and these longer bouts of cardio can interfere with my weight training.
