Body fat calipers Help

Ok, so I ordered some body fat calipers and they came in yesterday. Using the directions it looks like I'm at about 14%. But, the directions only tells you to do one measurement 1" above hip bone. I have had my bf % measured before and it used multiple measurements and I know that gives a more accurate reading. Does anyone here know how to use them using multiple site measurements? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You measure the back of the tricep and the scapula area at a 45 degree angle. Try to use YouTube for the measurements then look up a nasm caliper measurement chart. I have a book at home I can help when I get off of work.

It is true that the more sites you measure for your skinfold measurements the more accurate it is. I would not trust a 1 site measurement at all. A 4-site measurement is considered acceptable, but generally a 7-site measurement is used for more accurate readings such as research (if not using underwater weighing, Dexa or Bod Pod). Here is a great site that shows you the 7 sites (with pictures) and has a calculator as well: 7-Site Skin Fold Test Calculator with Testing Location Photos

Skinfold measurements can be quite accurate IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF PRACTICE. My Graduate professor told me after 1,000 measurements you would start to get the hang of it :). When first starting I would make sure to measure each site 3 time (not in a row) and take the average. Have fun!

Ok thanks man. I just want to get a pretty accurate measurement to keep in my log. The place it says to measure is where I store the most fat and I dont see how that could be the most accurate because I think I'm more lean on the test of my body as compared to other people. Last time I had it done they measured 4 or 5 places and calculated it up. I'm also at work but when I get off I'll check out YouTube.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to do some research on it when I get off work. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it before the 1000th time and can get an accurate reading.

Any measurement is better than none, but the more sites the better. It also helps if someone else can do them for you. It is hard to effectively pinch yourself in many of the spots. Preferably you can find a cute girl to do it ;)

Yeah I think I can get a cute girl to do it. The directions say to be able to get an accurate reading we both have to be nude right?

Just had a body fat test done, and I was way off with fucking calipers....... Total mind blow.... And messed my goals up...... The mind is a powerful thing
