I believe once you have 50 posts is when you get the edit option and then it's only available for fifteen minutes after you post it. After that it's permanent.

No problem.
Well being one who has deleted many unnecessary post, you have 15 minutes to bury it. After that, your great great grandchildren will be able to read your posts. My guess is that they well be amused, and you will most likely be dead, so no worries.
