Squats killing my knees

Not going over 225 x10 for my last set but damn my knees are killing me. I've never been one to do squats but last few months I've been adding this to my routine. My right knee isn't the best. I hurt playing soccer when I was real young and again 2 years ago snow skiing. Doesn't hurt doing leg presses even at 800 plus lbs or leg extensions either ..Is it just bad form on my part? Should I just say fuck it and stay light and not risk injury? I go skiing in a few months and I'm really trying to strengthen my legs and knees. Thanks

High bar or low bar?
Break at the knees or break at the hips?
Above, at or below parallel?
Do your knees cave at the bottom or the ascent?
Do you work quads a lot and neglect hamstrings?

High bar
Hips
Not sure
No
That's the last thing I do is ham strings but I don't kill them by any means usually 4 x12 on the lay face down machine usually warm up then
90lbs x12-15
100 x 12-15
120 X 12-15
140-150 for whatever

Knees hurt on the push up. I'm a big guy so I have a pretty wide stance and toes pointed out a little. I have neglected my legs for years and now I'm trying to play catch up.

Piggybacking off of @Perrin Aybara the floss bands work. I had some knee pain when I stated squatting heavy. I recorded myself and saw the flaws in my technique. I was breaking at the knees and my knees shooting to far forward. Between correcting my technique and floss bands I don't have that issue anymore. I usually include floss band body weight squats into my warm-up.

Google banded distraction for the knee. I did this as well.

Thanks I will be looking into it!

Knee sleeves work well so try them. I use them as my own knees are rather worn out from sports I played as a kid.

Knee sleeves are always a good first options. Another one to watch for is pointing your toes too far outward, but letting your knees cave in forward. It'll put a really nasty twisting motion on your knee. The easiest way to tell if that's a problem is if the pain carries down into the back and outside of your calf.

Elitefts super heavy duty knee sleeves changed my life. I tried half a dozen knee sleeves that worked in varying degrees, but the shd elites are fucking amazing and only about 50 bucks.
