Opinions on Premade Meals

Hi guys

Just wanted some opinions on preordering meals, I have come to realize that I don't have time to cook ahead of time and have meals for the week with the job that I have. I just want opinions on what companies are good !

Not sure where you are but there's companies in the uk like fit fuel and pro gains who will do packages containing 2 to 6 meals for 5/6/7 days a week, I've never tried fit fuel but I ordered off pro gains a while ago, I went for 4 meals a day for a week from them and it set me back about £135, just under £5 a meal so it's not cheap I guess but they're useful.

What I noticed was the first few meals I had after delivery seemed to taste the best, chicken was still pretty tender the potatoes were done well, but as the week went on and I had to start defrosting and warming up I started to really hate the taste of them, it's a shame they don't do 3 days of meals so you could have a fresh delivery every few days. Then again I'm really picky with my food I hate warming up food at the best of times so it'll depend on preference. Trial and error I suppose, in my own opinion they're good for days where you really have no time but I wouldn't live off them it's so much better to cook fresh for yourself when you can

Thanks for that, I'm gonna do some research on some and just try it out

I don't know... I don't buy it, to be honest. I work 50-60 hours a week, and train every day. I still find an hour or so two times a week to cook my meals, and prep. How much time do you spend in front of the TV, or on the couch? I'd bet there's an hour in there somewhere.

This is the sort of mindset that leads to failure in other areas, such as training. Be responsible and just say "I don't WANT to do it...." not "I can't do it."

As far as "pre made" meals go, it's probably a crap shoot. Who knows what kind of quality they are using? I'd rather make a bunch of things (such as a few extra portions at dinner) and freeze them. This will give you variety. Just write the macros of the meal on tape, stick it on the container and pop it in the freezer.

I don't know thought I'd be something different to try.

I agree with this in a lot of ways especially as far as the quality of the food goes. Her and i are currently waiting to buy a new stove as the one we have is broken and a pain in the ass to use. Thats why she hasn't been cooking like she usually does as well.

That's a good reason, which I understand. Curious to hear what your experiences are with the premade stuff if you go that route...

I Eat lean ground turkey and lean ground beef with broccoli on work days because it takes my wife almost no time at all in the am to prep my 2 meals that I take to work with me. I don't mind eating it all the time as it's easy for her to make it every morning. She wakes up at 615 and I leave by 645 and I get breakfast and my 2 prepped meals ;)

I used icon meals, and aside from being kind of bland it wasn't too bad.

There's also fuel meals. I would like to try them.

I just can't justify using them cuz of the price. When i did order it, it was a big sale like fourth of July or something.

iconmeals.com had a 40% 4th of July sale, so I gave them a shot. 2 lbs chicken 1 lbs steak 1 lbs salmon 1 lbs ground turkey, 1 lbs cod. 6 cups of rice, 32 Oz potatoes, 16 Oz sweet potatoes, 16 Oz asparagus View attachment 45780close up of the cod. very flaky, but a little blandView attachment 45781 it's shipped in a cooler bag, with dry ice inside. overnight from texas.View attachment 45782
convenient service for whenever life gets a little busy and can't make your own meals.

I posted this in the food thread last year when i did order.

Its Okay, really bland. If you plan on eating super clean I guess it could help. I usually season all my food with sofrito and hot sauce. So it was a shock to my palette being so flavorless.

But I mean the best aspect is the convenience and the time it saves. That might make it worth it on its own.

Man after my own heart, I love sofrito. Lol but your right on that, it's just with my stove I'm limited on what I can make. I'll keep that in mind though
