Anyone have custom Made-To-Measure suits made?

I've recently starting preparing for job hunting and had to accept off-the- rack suits will never fit. I'm 6'2" and about 240lbs. I have a 12" drop from my chest measurement to my waist measurement. It was really pricey but I just ordered a MTM suit from Knot Standard. I'm just wondering if anyone else has to order custom and where they go.

BTW, the 3 piece suit cost me $1k. I know, right. But that was because I went to a store and had them do all the measurements. Now that I've been measured it should be a lot cheaper to order suits from them (if I need another one). And that sounds like a lot but a decent off-the-rack suit will be ballpark $500 and still take a few weeks of hunting to find one that a tailor MIGHT be able to kinda alter.

I bought a 3 piece off the rack from men's warehouse and they took all my measurements and adjusted the suit to fit me.
I think it ran like $600 just for the suit. $100 for the dress shirt, and it ended up being like $800 after everything.

I'm sure you can get one like it way cheaper but I do love my suit.

I like Mens Wearhouse...great deals and I myself bought a suit for $700 for job hunting and for formal events. Shoes ran me 100.

I've done Men's Warehouse but was never totally satisfied with the fit. But I do feel a little better about the price I paid based on what y'all spent. Mostly because I saved a lot of time shopping and running around and I should get something that has a custom fit. For instance, I just didn't think I could find a coat at Men's Warehouse with zero shoulder padding.

A number of store now sell suit seperates, this is very usefull if you need a cost effective suit. It usually runs 2-3 hundred for a good brand. most of the time if you are very muscular they will still need a little tailor to fit correctly but it is much easier to buy a 48 jacket and 36 pants and tailor them then the usual 40 pants that come with a 48 jacket

One of my favorites. Made in Italy. Banana republic

I always would go to Macy's for Ralph Lauren suits. They would measure me and send my measurements to the manufacturer. It would take about a week to get my suit. Ralph Lauren didn't charge a dime more then if I'd bought it off the rack. $850-900 for a suit that fits right is worth it to me. I have a 16 drop so I know it's hard. They also have 53" suit jackets. Which is why I use them. Worth a look if your ok spending 8-900$.

What's the price?

They're generally very well priced, unless you get the really high end stuff which can go to the thousands.

I bought three 2pc suits from here (the store though, not online):

Ermenegildo Zegna Cloth Suits | Moss Bros

I'd go to a store and try some on. I find I need smaller sizes in Zegna than regular suits because they have the extra space for the arms and shoulders.

The material is so much nicer too, I have stupidly big traps so regular suits make me look really bunched up around the neck. But the zegna stuff just sits beautifully around the neck. It's spot on.

Only people close in shape to the fit models the designers use will be able to wear OTR (off the rack) and have it look right. Just as the BMI score doesn't work for those who lift, regular shirts and suits don't work either.

EDIT: if you think an OTR suit fits you, well, you are either too skinny, or you don't know how a properly done bespoke suit should fit.

I get my business suits, formal shirts, casual but nice trousers, and Bermuda-style dressy shorts (I have them tailored to cover the knee) all done in Asia. My tailor is in Thailand, have used him for the better part of a decade now.

Everybody on this board pretty much HAVE to chuck your OTR shirts - well, maybe the PL types have big enough guts to fill out the tent shirts that can contain your arms and shoulders, but BB types look stupid in OTR shirts.

Fully tailored shirts in Asia - fabric, fit, collar, cuffs, buttons and all the various tricks and designs you can think of - the shirts still come out under $40 per shirt. $25 if you don't tinker too much with the design.

It's worth the trip over there just for the clothes - you save so much on a dozen shirts, trousers, a suit or two. Add the nice pharmaceutical goodies they have into the mix and it's a steal.

Fucking dress shirts I have to get a XXL just to get my arms and neck in and it wears like a fucking dress. I have to blouse the back military style in order for a clean look. Don't get me started on the suits, Tailor has a field day pulling and tucking and cutting my jacket....if not I would look like a bell do to the overwhelming fabric in bigger jackets.

Don't forget needing big sleeves for those bowling ball biceps ;)
