Best training frequency for better recovery

what would be better for optimal recovery, training a muscle once a week with more volume or twice a week with less volume. I'm not talking about a muscle group. I'm talking about what harder for your body to recover from over all. Or does it even make a difference as long as total volume is the same.

I hit my muscles 2 x a week one with compound movements and one isolation movements. On Tren and Test right now and gained 12 pounds with much muscle. I change my rep scheme up eveery 6 weeks.

The reason I'm asking is I started training bjj after years of layoff. I still want to weight train, but only for physique purposes. It's hard to combine both, so I'm trying to get the right frequency that will still allow me to achieve my goals. Ever since I started back again ,I been getting hammered. I'm thinking 3x a week weight training.

In the grand scheme of things there are many more important factors to take care of.

In the case of training for bodybuilding, really just do what you enjoy.

This. Whatever you prefer you're going to stick to it longer, and consistency trumps frequency.

Also, everyone is different. You wouldn't prescribe the same training frequency/intensity to Big Ramy vs. Stephen Colbert. Try both for 4-6 weeks and see what happens.
