Need some expert diagnosis on this problem

I posted this in another area but think this is probably the best spot for this issue.

My brewing knowledge is very limited so I'm going to pick some brains on this as I suspect the brewing may be the issue. Anyone ever done an injection and it get progressively sore, red and then begin to migrate down the body as the days go by?

I've got a buddy that did a 1cc UGL sust injection into each quad and by the next day he had a light red spot on each quad around the injection site. They got progressively more sore over the next few days and the red spots were slowly migrating down his legs. I did not allow him to miss quad day but due to him being a whiny little bitch I had to hear about it the entire time so I told him I'd ask if anyone had any thoughts.

He said the gear looked like it might have crashed when he got it (floating crystals in it). He heated it up and it appeared GTG. He's very experienced so none of the newb injection mistakes apply. He did not have a fever and it doesn't look infected. It's more like major tissue irritation with some knotting/tightness in the muscle where it's light red. Also, he's used this bottle previously with no issues so all of a sudden this happened.

I've seen the bottle myself and the stuff looks clear with no obvious issues. Any ideas of what the issue might be and if it's the gear could it be corrected? It's a 100cc bottle so he really doesn't to trash it.

@XKawN is one of the most knowledgeable hombrewers ive ever chatted with. Maybe he can help ya out with this ? brotha. Ill deff be subbed to see what everyone has to say on the subject. Good luck an i hope you get to the bottem of it bro.....

I would for sure filter the stuff. It could be that he had a reaction to the carrier oil that was used or it had a high concentration of BA. Sometimes you can't trust anyone but yourself lol

I was going to say possibly BA as well.

OP: He is going to continue to draw out of a 100ml bottle? That stopper is gonna be pretty rough at the end.

Maybe contaminated the gear?
If he was having no problems before, but now getting cellulitis like symptoms, then I would suspect contamination.
Try heating it to resterlize it, or filter it.
If his legs get worse, go to a doctor and get antibiotics. Damn vit b injections, lol.

Thanks to everyone that replied.

The source is local and very good at what he does. He’s been around for years and only does small batches for himself and a few others. We’ve never seen an issue like this previously.

It’s an odd situation. He’s taken at least 15-20cc out of this bottle with no issues. Then this happened. It’s a 300mg sust brew. Nothing special about it beyond that.

His quads are improving little by little. They aren’t as sore and the redness is fading. So no need for medical intervention.

The newer almost clear stoppers seem to do ok on the 100cc bottles. The cheap grey stoppers have been shredded towards the end of a 100cc bottle in my experience. It’s not as many shots as you’d think in a 100cc vial if you’re doing 3cc at a time. It goes pretty quick.

Sustanon is painful. I was paralyzed for two weeks the first time I used sustanon in my quads, could barely walk. Sustanon should always be injectable in glutes. The propionate ester in it is to blame. Test prop is the most painful after winstrol

Stop lumping everyone into the same box as you. I've pinned test prop in my quads without any pip what so ever. You say stupid shit every time your wretched fingers touch a keyboard.

@fodsod What it kind of sounds like to me is the oil is in between the fat and muscle a bit. Your description of the redness migrating down his leg reminds me of that. I had that happen with a delt injection and have read about others with similar issues from time to time, but it's obviously just a guess.

Do you know if he went to a shorter needle or anything?

He did use a 1" needle but in the area he injected on his quads (outer side mid quad) you can literally see the muscle fibers firing and feathering (very lean) so there's no way it didn't get into the muscle. Maybe some of the mix pushed back out and got captured in between the muscle and the skin. Seems unlikely that would happen to both quads in exactly the same way though and it doesn't explain the swelling of the muscle in the red areas with extreme soreness.

I'm just going to assume the mix possibly separated (crashed) enough to create a situation where he basically injected a higher level of something that was an irritant outside of the proper mixed percentages (sort of like oil and water separate) and moving forward he'll need to toss that bottle or maybe heat it back up prior to using more.

I appreciate everyone's input.

Sounds like it crashed in the injection site... I've had winny do that, and it was terribly painful.

It didn't look good. A red whelp that looked like someone smacked his quad with their hand really hard and some swelling.

It did add some temporary size to the outer quads though so I told him to take some pics so he can see what his quads would look like if he added another inch or two to them. :)

It was in my delt, and it was red and swollen, kind of like a pea in size. It was hard, and within a matter of hours... So, I knew it wasn't an infection. I at first thought maybe a piece of the stopper was injected, then I inspected the vial and saw it had crashed. It certainly crystalized in depot, causing the severe pain. A heating pad and as much pressure as possible was the life saver. It'll be irritated for about a week total.

Did you toss the vial or re-heat to see if it would correct the issue?

I reheated it, and let it sit for a few days before I repinned it. That room, the one in which it was stored, gets pretty cold in the winter. So, it got too cold and caused it to crash (winny in oil is very "fragile"). So, when reheated and transferred to a more "appropriate" temperature, it held fine and could be used again. If it keeps crashing, the brewer didn't use enough BB or they used too much powder (likely the prop in your buddy's case).

Another thing, a lot of UGL's are rumored to make their own "sustanon" just using test cyp/enan and test prop. Functionally it would act about the same, however since cyp and prop have a higher affinity to crash, it could become problematic if that were the case.

Either way, if it reconstitutes and holds, it shouldn't be a problem to use.

What kind of re-heating method did you use or would you recommend for sust if he wanted to try to salvage it?

Stick a 25g or smaller pin in the stopper, put on a ceramic plate and stick in the oven at 250f for about 5-7 minutes, pull out and kind of swirl it, then put back in until it's dissolved. A better option is a cheap hotplate from amazon/target (I like it better).

Much appreciated brochacho. I'll pass on the info.
