First homebrew!

Made my first homebrew, it was a mild success!

attempted to make 30ml of test e at 250mg/ml but lost quite a bit of oil due to me blowing up a filter and whatnot lol. Not sure just how much I lost.. These are 10ml vials but I don't think that 10ml is actually supposed to fill the vial completely (more like 3/4 full I thought). You can see on the bottom of the left vial there are two small pieces of rubber stopper that the 18g needle broke off. I suppose I will just have to draw from the vials with a 21g. Otherwise, oil is clear and beautiful. :)

Anyways my recipe was
2%BA
10%BB
GSO

I mixed the BB and powder first because somebody on a forum said this was the correct way but who knows. Filtered with 18g needle, .2um nylon nalgene syringe filter, 60ml syringe, and caulk gun LOL. I quickly came to the realization that I don't want to repeat this method and it didn't feel nearly as cool  as I wanted homebrew to be. Will have to look into purchasing one of those hand pump apparatuses that people use. No idea what the proper term is for them or what all materials I need, hopefully someone could give a recommendation.

It's called a bottle top filter and a vacuum hand pump(search for brake bleeder).

You can buy a bottle top filter that comes with a receiver bottle or buy a separate glass receiver bottle to match the bottle top filter you have. It's been suggested that the plastic receiver bottles can crack, thats what the glass ones are for. But then you have to sterilize the receiver blah blah blah so it's just another step.

I haven't tried to bottle top filter my homebrew yet. My next brew will be with bottle top. I have a complete set and a separate glass receiver bottle. I'll try both and see which works best.

Thanks man! So I know the brake bleeder is obviously not intended to be used for this purpose, yet it still somehow connects to the bottle top filter?

Yea the brake bleeder set comes with various tubing. The tubing connects from the vacuum pump to a nozzle on the bottle top filter.

Like that but that's an electric vacuum pump.

That's the hand pump.

I would get a 3cfm vacuum pump off ebay they are pretty cheap (last I looked around $50) they are alot more conveinent than a hand pump.
Oh me, oh my. That thing looks like a monster. LOL So would you use this in place of the brake bleeder and hook it to the bottle top unit?

Did you use a cheaper brand of filter? I'm going to guess you used something besides a Whatman.
It says in the post, Nalgene was the brand. I used this because I read a lot of complaints about whatmans breaking in the forums and heard good things about nylon filters, which the Nalgenes I used are. Only one filter broke and it was definitely my fault because I squeezed the shit out of it. Lol I just had to test how far I could push the thing before it gave way. Held up pretty well considering..

I've read other way around. Whatman seems to rarely bust. I've read that like 1 in 100 Whatman filters might have a defect that cause leaking.

Foxx Autofil .22 is who I started using. If you have the means to properly steralize you could get a buncher filter setup and some .22 47mm filter membranes.

Is there a kit or setup we can buy for this all in one or do we have to buy individual parts and pieces?

Does medlab have a kit?
Thanks
I'm not aware of anyone selling an all in one kit. Your best bet would be to buy it piece by piece or find someone who is getting out of brewing and buy their setup. I sold ecerything acouple months back and the biyer got one hell of a deal.

Is it just me? I’ve never seen gear quite that green!! New meaning to Hulk Juice!

I purchased the highest usp grade, organic, unrefined grapeseed oil I could get. There's no reason to fear the green hulk lol that's just what medical grade GSO looks like! Most UGLs would not go through the trouble of doing this. Not necessary really, just a little extra assurance that what I put in my body isn't crap.

Plastic will break or crack and oil is everywhere.

I've seen people successfully use Wesson vegetable oil from the grocery store, so don't spend too much getting caught up on some super high grade oil. I'm not recommending Wesson but usp gso works.

The rubber stoppers break up on presterilized vials a lot for me
.. try 20 to 21g or go really slow with the 18.

Also, eBay you can get combo with vials, stoppers, aluminum caps and a crimper for less than 100... prob 70.00 or so.
