What a relief

Finger prick here. They mainly check for under the limit... But I've gone in and been high, I think it's 57 here . She literally tested every finger until it read in range...kinda cool.

Will or does hydration matter? If you were to super hydrate would it drop the RBC count?

Dehydration causes hematocrit & rbc to elevate due to less fluid volume in the blood but will drop back down if you rehydrate.

Understand the importance of keeping hct in check but a pint or more of blood every 6 to 8 weeks is a lot of heme iron leaving the body. An iron rich diet seems like a good idea.

Anyone ever check their serum iron, TIBC and ferritin levels on such an aggressive phlebotomy schedule? No criticism implied just curious.

I was getting really bad fatigue about a year and a half ago and got all those checked. Ferritin was extremely low (11 if I remember correctly). Supplemented with iron and got it back in range and the fatigue went away.

Thanks @Perrin Aybara. Sounds like you had begun depleting your tissue iron stores to keep your serum iron adequate. Glad you caught it before things got any worse. Props to @RThoads.

I’m literally going to be that annoying guy in every one of these threads.

PLEASE DONT DO THIS WITHOUT SUPERVISION!
People pass out all the time giving blood and if you happen to be one of those people you’ll bleed out and die on your bathroom floor.

That being said, savage work! @Skull

A good precaution is to push some plastic tubing onto the needle, and use a strong clamp from a hardware store on the tubing, so the clamp will crimp the tube if you pass out and let go.

And THIS is why I go to a T clinic my friends. I flat out do not have the testicular fortitude to manage that kind of shit on my own (or the brains to learn about and then interpret my labs)
