Knee pain help identifying

I've hurt my knee. This is traumatic for me as I've never had a knee injury in my life, and I'm a powerlifting/ strongman training type

I don't know how severe it is. Location pain seem to originate is inside of knee, maybe slightly behind knee cap . Noticed it first squatting VERY light weight. 225, at the bottom on a random rep just sent a weird sensation through my knee. No pop, crack, just felt wrong, if that makes sense . Almost like instability?

Now is having mild pain, like maybe 2 out of ten, just laying around .

Definitely can't squat down , just bodyweight , past parallel without feeling it . After something irritates it it generally feels unstable and can't straighten it out for a few seconds until pain subsides.

Any advice/diagnosis?

I'm thinking MCL/miniscus. But hopefully just sprained ?

Like I said, never had a knee issue before. I like to think my pain tolerance is high , but wouldn't a full tear be devastatingly painful? Also can't pinpoint a specific moment I injured it. Just sort of crept up on me.

Thanks guys.

Im thinking more likely meniscus/cartilage. You usually dont damage ligaments without forceful trauma. Meniscus can sneak up, wear and tear. Hope it all works out for you! Go to doc for sure.

Don't guess, get an MRI.

I had something like that a couple years ago. Happened a few times and I couldn't squat for weeks at a time. I got some Voodoo Floss and started doing work with that and also wearing knee sleeves anytime I'm doing any kind of squat. Haven't had a single problem since.

Brutha, this requires medical attn. please take it very seriously. You can get great advice round herrr, but please just see a doc to be [emoji817] brutha.

Plan was always to see a doc. Couldnt exactly make it at ,9pm last night..... Gotta make appointment today and plan on missing some work.

Good news is no pain at all this morning, but not gonna do any deep bending of it, try to go easy as possible until I can make it to a specialist

Thanks . I was hoping someone would chime in with similar experience, just want to get a heads up what to expect treatement / recovery wise before I see a doctor.

See an orthopedic doctor.

I've dealt with knee issues for years. You have to be very careful when the pain starts because it gets out of hand pretty fast.

You may need to see a PT. Worst case, you need surgery to remove plica or ruptured cartilage.

I would try working with the voodoo floss. Try working on your mobility... The mobility aspect has been the single most important thing I've done to help my knees. Dr Aaron Horshig from Squat University on YouTube has some really good suggestions on mobility and warmup stuff.

Just left the ortho office by my work .

Docs diagnosis is very mild sprain, and take it as a warning, due to complete lack of swelling and very little pain . He did some tests and moved my leg around in a few ways, but concluded nothing is torn...

He said let it rest and use otc pain med if it is a problem doing "normal" day to day.

He didn't take much pity when I said I was into weight lifting. Mentioned it will probably be a sign of future knee problems as long as I keep up "high risk" activities.

Gonna avoid squats the next few weeks and then ease back into box squats . I may have to finally transition to a true PL style squat and just break parallel, no more ass to grass :-/

Thats great news! I partially torn my rotator cuff 3wks ago. Dr. asked me how much I can bench and then said "why?". In my head I immediately thought "same reason you have an irritating faggot voice!"

My cousin sees a doctor from somewhere in Russia that is sympathetic to weightlifters. He always tells him how many kilos he used to clean and jerk when he was younger.
I don't remember what type of doctor he is but I'd go there for whatever if he wasn't so far. Russian weighlifter as a doctor? Probably knows a thing or two!
