Its actually a pretty good little scam. Create an "anti gym" geared towards unhealthy people. People who by nature, dont want to work out. At the first bit of inconvenience they will stop going. Sell them the idea of fitness and some sort of bragging right. cheap memberships (on auto draft) to people who dont really want to go to the gym. discriminate against regular gym people. The kind of people who would be in there putting wear and tear on the equipment.
Probably have 30-40% of their members who actually work out more than 3 days a week. There rest is just paying a cheap membership to have just incase. Easy money for a company.
It's like charging extra for having a pool at an apartment complex. Only having it open 10am-2pm mon thru fri while everybody is at work.
