It could be a mix of both, like when bricks or concrete develop that white effervescence. It could be crystalline deposits that caused the ester to fall off.If it was okay originally then something happened. I'd rather make it all up. Condensation and moisture can be an issue.
I had the same thing. Made a batch pinned it had maybe 10 mls left. Made another 50 mls with same raw. Color deeper orange and a couple days later cloudy. Stopped pinning it. Went back to the 10 mls I had left over. Refilters the orange. It’s clear again . Anyway pinned it cloudy and clear.
