According to the new guidelines it is actually stage 2.

If you are at 120/80 this is now considered pre hypertension.

Stage 1 is now at 130 and so on and so forth.
Just bs to sell bp meds
Well even more @desertwarrior

I actually agree with the new guidelines.

Too many are relaxed with bp with many thinking 140/80 is ok.

Higher bp causes micro tears these micro tears have to be repaired which cause the artery to become leathery.

These micro tears also allow sugar and triglycerides to come in and help
Form a clog.

Obviously studies were done before the changes were made, they didn't just make up a new standard. I guess anything is possible though.
I think maybe the number in the past weren't that bad but now a combo of terrible diet which imo 80% American have, change the effects of such pressures

Also could be big Pharma bullshit but i left my tin hat in another thread

It's definitely possible. After my last cycle I had stage 3 hypertension (I'm in my late 20's) I forget the exact numbers but I remember checking it multiple times at the pharmacy and being stage 3. I'm definitely going to keep it in check this time around because cardiovascular issues are no joke.

It had nothing to do with studies. It had everything to do with putting more emphasis on blood pressure.

Before and still, many doctors don’t even realize there are new guidelines... but... most doctors wouldn’t even discuss blood pressure with patients until it got above 145 etc.

The problem is... if this goes on then the condition can worsen and sometimes not see a reversal. The goal is to bring awareness when the blood pressure is around the 120 mark so the average person will start thinking about monitoring more.
