Just wow. I thought I was going to see some douchebag adrenaline junky... instead it reminded me of the ronnie coleman documentary. Someone who loves what they do so much- who is so dedicated to their craft they put everything on the line to make an impact. Super inspiring- sure did not make me want to climb, but it made me want to find something in my life that makes me that happy when I accomplish it... something that I am that willing to train for years for, dedicate every thought and breath to the success of. Loved it.

I will leave you with the meme of the year.IMG_0333.jpeg

I watched that last a couple weekends ago while we were down visiting the little lady's family. Really cool, those guys are n
Crazy brave though, I wouldn't even want to be that high up with a safety harness lol

A rare appearance by brutus, good seeing you come around from time to time.
Ima check this out

I started watching "Dawn Wall" and thought it was good... Watched the trailer for this one and it looks way more intense.

Blew me away just how long it takes to cover +3k feet... If they can cover it at all. They just climb all day long, fall, go back up, fall, try to sleep, get up and go again for days and days. Maybe weeks.

He does 3800 ft of the biggest cliff face on earth in 4 fucking hours. Fucking handholds the size of corn kernels.

I was kind of wondering how that would work... The guys in the other movie have to drag a bunch of shit up behind them. I think it takes the two of them like 2 weeks to get to the top, but this guy does it in four fucking hours...?

Most of us normal climbers put pro in the wall as we go up and the guy behind us pulls the pro out but a lot of times it is jammed in there and we have to use hammers to get the pro out so it can take several hours to climb just one hard pitch, especially when you fall because you have to cover twice the distance. So if your 20 feet above your last piece of pro and you fall you actually fall 40 feet plus the Rope stretch so about 50 ft. You then have to climb that 50 feet just to get back to where you were. It would be a lot easier if they just bolted the rock face but us climbing purists, the trad climbers, hate bolts, its called sport climbing once you start adding bolts.

All that said I've only done free solo once and it was a simple 5.6 pitch. Something I could literally climb while I was asleep. I was so terrified the entire time I've never done it again. One itty-bitty fuck up and you're tumbling down that face. In climbing circles we call it a cheese grater because before you hit the deck you're going to cheese grate all your skin off on the granite wall on the way down... lovely.

definitely looks like its worth watching. I've always been fascinated with rock climbing.
a somewhat unrelated clip

I get squeamish just watching that. I've had many friends almost die falling WITH a rope. Crazy thing is Alex climbed this with a rope before he free soloed it and he kept falling at the Crux. What a maniac.
