"Ethical" Veganisnm

What the fuck is wrong with ya'll?

Seriously, I've kept raccoons, opossum, skunks, deer, rats, chipmunks, squirrels, turtles, and a host of birds over the years.

I've also raised swine, cattle, alpaca, goats, and a horse or two.

I've loved them all to the moon and back. Knowing what was coming in the case of most of the livestock is why I didn't follow into the family business. I'm not at all ashamed to say I don't have the stomach for it.

But these people that equate a pig to a dog. Man, that piglet becomes a thousand pound bore. It will attack you and take a chunk out of you.

In a fucking heartbeat.

Even that horse, if it's having a bad day, will put a hoof to your dome like nothing.

I've watched so many people get fucked up because they think all these animals are no different than their dog.

But these "ethical" vegans. Throwing around shit like, "You've been indoctrinated to card about ONE of these animals."

Get fucking real.

I'm not a fan of factory farming or hands that abuse the livestock. I've made family fire plenty of dickheads over the years. But a pig is NOT a fucking dog. A cow is NOT a fucking dog.

And those that equate simply eating meat with cruelty? Go fucking berate the lions, tigers, and bears.

Or feed your dog / cat vegan. Then I can call you an animal abusing piece of shit when you cause a host of issues up to and including DEATH because you're throwing their dietary NEEDS out the window to fit your own misinformed narrative.

Get a fucking grip ya'll.

I went vegan for a year or so and felt great... too much work though. I agree completely- fuck the stupid animals. Seasoned properly I'm sure dog is delicious too.

Bit and by bit I mean way far right of what I said. But you do you.

I agree to a certain point that some groups of people in X area of the world have been "indoctrinated" to care about certain animals.

People eat cats, dogs, horses, etc and others see it as highly taboo mostly because of your upbringing. Some animals are just seen as abnormal for consumption depending on where you grew up... Alligator, frog, snake, etc may be normal to eat in the south but where I live it would be seen as unusual.

It's all relative... frankly, I always saw that talking point as the most logical in the vegan community's campaign. That is, that you're taught from a young age about what foods you should be eating and other social constructs.

I don't know where you're coming from with one animal being able to kill you vs a dog and why that matters.

More people that've never handled animals that'd be considered livestock equating them to house pets.

So many gifs of piglets with golden retrievers and shit. They're pushing an unreasonable image to further their agenda.

Sure a dog can tear your face off. Typically it's the result of illness or poor care-taking though.

Generally, however, they're fairly harmless, in part, as a function of co-evolution alongside humans. Again, provided that their cared for and treated well.

Livestock, while having been largely domesticated, are far more unpredictable. As I said, you can raise that piglet from birth. If it gets a hair up it's ass, it'll take a piece out of you. Without warning.

That horse will kick your damn head off.

Goats in general are fucking pricks.

Yes, the meat that we choose to harvest varies based on social norms.

And as I said, I'm very much about giving the animals in our care the best life possible. Even if they're going to slaughter at the end of the day.

But putting the idea that a 1,000lb bore or a 3,000lb bull is equivalent to a golden retriever is flat out irresponsible and dangerous.

Note: I'm making this statement as someone that's raised, rescued, and worked with a multitude of animals. Also as someone who's watched a lot of people with no fucking grasp on the reality of their behavior get fucked up playing farmer while visiting.

There are enough shitty farms and ranches out there to make their point effectivey. Check out one of Fairlife's suppliers being exposed just recently.

Resorting to propaganda isn't needed.

They act like if we go vegan all the wild cows and chickens will once again roam the great plains with the buffalo. No eggs, no milk? These animals would cease to exist. They're a fucking food source first, it's why they get to be. That being said, I have no patience for people who abuse animals.

You are viewing their argument from such an odd angle that I honestly thought you were kidding at first...

Meat is meat is ultimately the point... not that they're literally the same kind of animal with the same demeanor. I've honestly heard of ten times more dogs attacking people than pigs, cows, horses combined and I live in a rural area where it does occasionally happen. but that's not even the point. Do you know anyone that's taking a 1000lb hog as an indoor pet on the basis of it being exactly like a dog? Someone that knows nothing about pigs? I very much doubt it... that's not really the point either.

They are all meat fit for consumption... IE they are the same, but you're brought up to think that eating one type is acceptable and eating a dog isn't. It's meant to make you question your own social construct... considering it to be a dangerous piece of rhetoric or propaganda is just absurd to me.

Dude, I understand that.

But when half the people floating this shit are doing so while wearing leather shoes, are they intelligent enough to understand that?

Like I said, I've literally watched dumbass people with no concept of what those animals are capable of get fucked up because they approach them like pets.

It's like the dumb shits that take on exotics with zero concept of how to properly care for them. Provide zero enrichment and then blame the animal when they're attacked. Which I've also seen many times over.

I have zero issue with veganism, but people in general are fucking stupid. Too many take that shit literally.

Yeah, people think fucking pet snakes are sooo cool. I knew a guy about 20yrs ago who had a 14ft "pet" python bite his face/eye. He had to have brain surgery for a staph infection. What a stupid fuck.

I had a “mini” pot belly pig. I still ate bacon...and so did she.

Yep.

A friend in OK wound up raising a leopard after retiring.

*He retired from actively working at an animal sanctuary for 40+ years mind you.*

He'd worked with the big cat from birth until he was about 1.5yrs. After Kurt retired, Ama wanted nothing to do with the other staff out there.

So Kurt wound up with him. Ama's about 9yrs now, and he's pretty chill. But his enclosure has been redone a number of times as domestic cats have been able to slip in at points.

They quickly became snacks.

Also, deer have been known to scavenge and actually cannibalize other deer.

Veganism.

Ha.
