Do u need squats

You and me both, however squats do so much more than just strengthening your legs. I used to love leg day, now I dread it, but I always reward myself with a big post leg workout red meat meal, and I look forward to that it the only day during the week I eat red meat, everything else is chicken pork and fish
 
They are amazing for your hole body. You can work around it, but every time I do them, I am glad I did because of the full leg pump. They are great for your core too.

I can add 25 percent more progress by doing them vs not doing them.
 
Don’t talk shit on the smith. Pop 315 on a smith and squat straight down so your knees go past your toes until you can’t and then come back and tell me the Smith is useless.
I believe the smith machine can be really useful I just don’t wanna sell myself short on gains but I’ve never swapped smith for barbell so I’m talking on pure ignorance however
I’m starting to wonder if balance can possibly take out the emphasis on ur force output because I know I could probly tax my muscles closer to failure on smith without fucking my shit up
 
Can’t stand when im at the gym and I hear young guys saying “i hate leg day” I feel like saying yeah, try leg day when the old ostio starts settling in your knee. I used to enjoy leg day...20 years ago. Was never really powerful with squats, never went above 315 for 3 but I always got good development. Now leg day=pain but I frigin refuse to not train legs. I do exactly as said by @T-Bagger , extensions, curls, leg press. I still do plenty of calf work too, that helps a lot with the “look” of your legs. Ever see a big dude with skinny or even normal size legs lol, I always said I would NEVER be that guy. Lmao.
