So i was wondering what you use to stir the brew?. I has to use a sterile syringe without the needle. I have a hot plate.

Most people use glass stir rods but anything you can clean up and won’t deteriorate can work. I’m not sure if a syringe will deteriorate, in heat that is high enough to brew, or not.

Personally I use a magnetic stirring hot plate with a Teflon coated stir rod.

How long has it lasted? I noticed the Chinese made/brands have hit or miss reviews; most people say "it lasted three months", I debating whether or not I should fork out extra for a US/euro made hot plate.

Depends on use rate. I have a similar one (all the same just brand names differ) and it's lasted well over a year but I don't use it daily or often at all. If it broke, I'd replace with same. I can say that.

I've had mine for about 2 and 1/2 years. no problems with it yet.
