Old school BMX fans?

So long story short came across an old frame of mine that I sold off years ago. My buddy I sold it to is shipping it to me and I'm going to start the process of rebuilding it. I'm going to try and find as much if the same old school parts that I had on it. Should be a fun project. The frame is a Skyway. Any other old school BMX fans on here? Anyone know any good places to find parts? Going to start checking out recycle town at the dump regularly.

Never been into BMX, but I have a couple of MTB jump frames still lying around. Knees can't handle the drops anymore, but I can't bring myself to sell them. Mostly ride free ride bikes these days. Heavy, but easy on the knees.

My primary part source is JensonUSA.com Not sure about their BMX selection, but they do sell BMX parts.

For older stuff, you might try BikeMan.com, especially if you can't find something. It's been years since I did any business with him, but he was always good about answering emails and finding unusual crap in his warehouse.

Also CambriaBike.com is pretty good, though prices are hit or miss.

Hell yeah! I had a skyway back in the day. Check ebay... there's a nitch market for old school bikes that are either 100% original or restored. Remember Hutch bikes?? Those are fucking rad...I said it, RAD, man!!

Didn't Skyway make Tuff wheels too? I had a PK Ripper, a good Schwinn back in early 80s.

Yes sir, they actually just started new production of them. Apparently they stayed in business this whole time, but in a different market, wheelchair wheels.

I had a PK ripper aluminum frame, the seat post connection o. The frame snapped because I had one of those laid back seat posts on there. I was pissed that frame was LIGHT

The PK Ripper was super light! Never had one but they definitely weren't designed to have a laid back seat post.. I had a Harry Leary Diamondback that broke in the same spot because of the laid back..

Down the road from me is a 14 yr old kid who had never competed in BMX and thought he would enter a major BMX competition in Portland (300 miles away) He took 3rd place !! Freaked everyone around here out . Hes now headed for major endorsements .
Way to go Braden !!

Dude that is bad ass!
Back story...
I was leaving my parents house about 25 years ago. In there neighborhood they do spring cleaning once a year and the trash collectors pick everything that is put at the curb.

It was dark out when my wife and I were headed home when I saw it at the curb.
I knew exactly what it was and grabbed it, my wife said why would you even stop and pick that up.

Not an exciting story but that is how I got it.

I’ve broken a few pair of skyway “tuff wheels” back in the day. Check the site “offer up “ every so often....People want top dollar for legit parts, as re building freestyle bmx is again popular. I wish I held on to my bikes now.

Yeah Braden used to ride by my place on a BMX on one wheel twirling his handlebars/front wheel and ramping over cars. We all knew he was meant for competition...(proud of the kid) ;)
