Ground turkey

I was at the supermarket yesterday and was looking at getting some ground turkey. I looked at the nutrition label and it had 15g fat per 4oz. The ground sirloin I've been eating has 11g for 4oz! I thought turkey would be leaner but it must be the whole bird beak to asshole. Maybe ground white meat is what I need.

You just gotta look at the fat percentage. That must’ve been 85% lean turkey. You can find 93/7, and 97/3 lean.

Thanks! Yeah, I just looked quick. It was Jenni-O brand not the butcher stuff. I'm cutting and the last 4wks from mid jan to mid feb I want to replace some of the ground sirloin with turkey, tilapia, or something different and cut my carbs a little.

I eat ground Turkey all most every day instead of red meat. Think Walmart sells Butterball 97/3, not the most flavorful but I like it.

Yeah it's just like ground beef you just have to watch the %'s. Obviously the fattier %'s have the dark meat etc in there. You can also find pure ground turkey breast which is basically comparable to chicken breast.

Only problem with a diet of a lot of Turkey instead of beef is iron. Turkey has low Iron compared to red meat. Unless you get iron elsewhere.

I used to as well, stuff is expensive though if eaten a lot. I alternate between 97 and 93 now.
Yee I've been doing Turkey breast but shit adds up fast especially the way we gotta eat.

I've been getting Jenno O Ground Turket 93/7 which has 11g of fat in 5.5oz.

Anyone else get gassy from Turkey

You can tell by tiredandhots posts he's full of it from all that turkey. Standby for the post from him about me "stalking" him on a PUBLIC forum. :D
In all seriousness though I wonder what the difference is between farm raised and wild turkey? Bet it's drastic.

Biggest thing I’ve read that differs is total fat content, but even more importantly, types of fat. There’s supposedly a lot more pro-inflammatory content in farm raised. Farm raised have a lot of gut issues from the feed they eat and it produces more omega 6 and 9 in their body tissue, whereas free range contain more omega 3’s and healthier bodies (non pro-inflammatory substances).

Plenty of other sources of iron out there i.e. spinach and leafy greens, lentils/beans, nuts. You don't have to rely on red meat for it.

Never for me. And I eat ground Turkey 6 days a week. It's my main meat.
